“What happened to Matt Drudge?” Carlson asked, introducing Lysiak, author of the new book, “The Drudge Revolution,” which will be released next week.
The biographer suggested that the turnaround could be an economic decision — Drudge figuring he can make more money bashing the president rather than backing him for reelection.
“I think one of the mistakes a lot of people have when they’re trying to analyze Matt Drudge is they try looking at him strictly through a political sphere,” the biographer said.
“The reality is…his loyalty isn’t any political party or ideas, it’s just to his website,” Lysiak added.

It was obvious when we met him at the March for Justice - 22 years ago! - that Drudge was in it for Drudge.
Drudge has lost more than 50% of his unique visitors to his website since mid-March. Millions of visitors have abandoned his site over the last 4 months.
His parent divorced at his age six. He failed his Bar Mitzvah. He graduated grade-wise 341st out of 355 students in high school.
Despite many relationships with men, one of whom made public that he was Drudge's gay partner, Drudge steadfastly maintains he is straight.
The 2020 net worth of Drudge is estimated at $160 million (source: Forbes). His fortune was mainly from advertising on his Drudge Report website.

Many years ago Drudge changed the internal website functions. His site ‘reloads, refreshes’ automatically every 15 to 30 seconds. Makes for a lot more ‘clicks’ that could turn into revenue.

It was just a series of links to news sites. Doesn’t take a lot of brains to create something like that.

Maybe that spurred a change of business strategy, and this book, and the “it was just business” excuse, are the PR to help win back viewers. Maybe he will do another ideological flip flop, to get some buzz, and make some big money - or maybe just get some buzz, to eke out a bit more revenue.

He is only partly right, Drudge got pressure from the cancel culture, Visa, Advertisers, etc... he didn’t want to lose his ad revenue.

I'm not Jewish, either, so I don't know. Perhaps a Freeper who passed a Bar Mitzvah would know.
I'm Missouri Synod Lutheran and we had to pass a strict test (Bible, Church Tenets, etc.) before Confirmation ceremonies.
But those who failed were confirmed, anyhow, LOL.
