DENVER (Reuters) - A Colorado transgender teenager who admitted to taking part in a shooting at a Denver-area charter school last year that left one student dead and eight others wounded was sentenced on Friday to life in prison plus an additional 38 years.
Alec McKinney, 17, was sentenced in Douglas County District Court for the shooting at the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, on May 7, 2019.
A 19-year-old co-defendant in the shooting, Devon Erickson, has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges and faces trial in September.
In February, McKinney pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder, conspiracy and related charges. As a juvenile offender, McKinney is eligible for parole after 40 years under Colorado law.
Before sentencing, a sobbing McKinney apologized to the victims and said he took responsibility for the pain he caused.
“I don’t want a lighter sentence,” McKinney said.
An 18-year-old student, Kendrick Castillo, was killed when he charged one of the shooters, police said. Eight of his classmates were wounded, one from a bullet fired by a security guard.
During the emotional sentencing hearing, Castillo’s father, John Castillo, called McKinney a coward and said he shed only “crocodile tears.”
“These are real tears,” Castillo said, his voice choked with emotion. “I condemn you to hell.”
McKinney, born female, has admitted plotting the school shooting as revenge on classmates over bullying, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
McKinney and Erickson consumed cocaine and stole three handguns and a rifle belonging to Erickson’s parents before storming the school, police said.

I worry for parents now, of both sexes. Boys will only be accepted if that is their “chosen” gender, and boys by birth must be minorities or gay in order to even hope to evade PC judgment. If I was a kid now, with the tomboy I was, my betters in school would probably be pushing me to transition into a boy, which would have been ridiculous. I’m more than happy to be female. The only reason I ever complained about being a girl was when puberty hit, because it’s not exactly enjoyable, especially at 10.

Reuters would never write an article like this without some connection to political correctness. AH, I saw it! “shooting as revenge on classmates over bullying” So the girl should be let out of prison because the shooting was justified. reuters wants us to think the sentence is too harsh.

It would be interesting to know whether this person is going to a male or female prison.
I have to wonder if there isn’t something like Roid Rage going on here with these people. You take a woman and you pump her full of male hormones oh, it seems like the perfect cocktail for mental instability, particularly when it’s put into an already mentally unstable individual.
Not that anybody would listen to me in the legal system, but the physicians who did this to her should be held liable for their contribution to the sick individual’s actions.

She’ll go to female prison because that’s where she wants to be. She has some prison fantasy going on no doubt. I saw one of these young and inexperienced freaks on a lock up prison documentary. The tranny was thinking marriage while her girlfriend female inmate flat out said on camera she was just scamming her for canteen money.
