I know that Putin is not a good guy, but for quite a while, at least until Trump got elected POTUS, he seemd to be the only major world leader sticking up for Christians.

It’s cynical for ex-KGB Putin to pose as a defender of Christians and traditional morality... but the West’s embrace of LGBT has provided an opening for him. Hell, Muslims Imams are doing the same thing. Looking at the U.S. and various European countries letting two sodomy buddies go around pretending that they’re a married couple, adopting kids, etc., well, many folks (including me) look at that and are repulsed. So if Putin or some Muslim cleric or anyone points at our perverse culture, and knocks it, they’re right! You can’t blame ‘em for making points that are valid points. You can’t blame ‘em for seizing an opportunity for be on the right side of an issue where Western culture is so obviously on the wrong side.

I’m sure the real reason why today’s liberals are obsessed with Russia is because of Russia’s stand on traditional values. Remember the two things liberals will fight to the last person to defend: abortion and deviant sex.

I am old enough to remember when the U.S. was a Christian nation and Russia wasn’t.

The basis of civilization is that women need a person to defend, protect, and help the child that results from copulation.

How “the pill” affects that is important.

Putin probably understands that the best bulwark against a Muslim takeover of his county is the promotion of Christianity. The best way to get the weeds out of your lawn is grass seed and fertilizer. A healthy crop of grass will choke off the weeds, and it’s a lot more efficient (and the results more pleasant) than playing whack-a-mole with the weeds (or Muslims).

Putin’s mortality and public restiveness over Russia’s chronic economic stagnation require that the regime find a basis for legitimacy other than nostalgia and revanchism over losing the Cold War and seeing the USSR dissolve. Traditional Russian Orthodox Christianity is the only plausible option. Yet violent gangsters taking up such garb does not make them into Christians or Russia into a Christian nation.

I would reckon that Putin has succeeded in subliminating the Russian Orthodox Church and twisting it enough away from it’s origin that he doesn’t view it as a threat to his power.

Maybe Putin has seen what happens to a country that moves away from God?

After the fall of the Soviet Union people stopped having children. Russia is facing a severe demographic crisis. While other ethnicities (non-white, non-Russian, non-Christian) are rapidly increasing their populations, the native Russians are in steep decline. Russia is being conquered from within without firing a shot.

The problem is, however, not in Putin’s ability to reverse. He would have to turn Russia into the land of opportunity, which means undoing the entire corrupt nature of the government, which he is the main pillar of. Without the corruption, there is no Putin. Not that getting rid of Putin is a solution. Putin is a symptom, not the disease.

Irony on steroids. 50 years ago the KGB set about to infiltrate every sector of America society and seed it with Marxists whose goal was to destroy religion and spread far-left anti-American ideology. Yuri Besmenov exposed it all in his 1980s videos, before they killed him for it.

Now ex-KGB officer Putin is building massive cathedrals and fighting to preserve traditional values in Russia

“Why is Russia’s Putin talking about marriage and faith in God?”

Those are a couple of reasons why democrats hate him so much.

Russia’s domestic affairs is as they are, but Russia as a de facto dictatorship and competitor for foreign influence in the world is a different matter. In the latter it is not to be trusted, by U.S.

Putin’s job is not conquering the world. Putin’s job is saving Mother Russia from sickness and death.

He is a salesman, advertising his only products worth a damn, weapons. To survive he must sell what he makes that is exportable.

Why is Russia’s Putin talking about marriage and faith in God?

Because Putin doesn't want to speak about freedom of religion, speech, protest, etc.
