Federal law enforcement officers clad in camouflage uniforms and body armor — without any visible identification — have been using unmarked vans to grab and detain protesters in Portland. That’s according to reporting by Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) on Thursday evening.
According to the report, the officers were predominantly sourced from the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and Customs and Border Patrol’s Tactical Unit (BORTAC). They were sent to the area with orders to protect federal property amid ongoing protests against police brutality. However, videos and witness accounts provided to OPB and several other news outlets show the officers detaining people who are not near any federal property and putting them in unmarked rental minivans.

Juan Chavez, director of the civil rights project at the Oregon Justice Resource Center, described the tactics to OPB as “stop and frisk meets Guantanamo Bay.”
The federal intervention was not requested by local government officials; in fact, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and other local government representatives have explicitly requested that federal officers vacate the city.

So if they can sit in a van and pick up conversations on cell phones and two-way radio, then identify the ring leaders. They can go get them, and arrest them, identify them, then start the police work to figure out the total operation and who is behind it all.

I watched that very satisfying video multiple times where the girl demands, “USE YOUR WORDS, WHAT ARE DOING??”
as her fellow Antifa gets escorted into the unmarked van.
The gal thinks she has the right to make federal officers pause and have a discussion with her about why they are taking a perp into custody. Amazing hubris - “Use your words!” I’m sure they had an opinion about where she could stuff her words - they stayed silent and professional, I bet the paid rioter (probably trained) was very unsatisfied

The Portland organizers have a goal of springing these people as soon as they can, altho I’m not sure that works for federal charges.
They were asking those arrested to yell out their names so they can post bail ASAP.

Proposed scenario....undercover fed agent posing as rioters....gets info on rioters...gets pics and records voices of leaders...weapon caches...maybe DNA samples of some...etc...needs to get out...well...gets “arrested” by feds....hare brained?
