I have been telling people this for many weeks here on FR and other boards. I won’t spend the time on this thread repeating myself.
I will give an analogy from an Epidemiologist who simply states that wearing a mask to prevent viral infections is like putting a dome over your property made from Chain Link fencing to keep out mosquitoes.
Lookit, they’re good for stopping a spray of mucus and/or saliva if you sneeze of cough, in case you have the cooties. They’re not going to stop anything so small you need a microscope to see, or can become airborne as you take the mask off. Face it, sheeple, you’ve been punked.
Masks aren’t about a virus; they’ve never been about a virus.
The best option would be to treat this like any other flu season, but unless we pass a law that says suing another individual or business for giving you COVID is punishable by execution then too many people will be too afraid to fully open up.

Tl;dr. It basically sums up what I’ve already heard, but ppl are just too damn stupid to accept it.

They will stop droplets from coughing which are quite infective. If you are coughing just stay the hell home. If you are in public and someone is coughing it may protect you from infective droplets. Relative to the airborne viral particle that mask is nothing. It will go through easily.
Why the subterfuge?

Presumably that study is included in the artcile because the surgical masks have gaps and are assume to be inferior, And of course practically every mask being worn in public these days is inferior to a fitted N95. But that doesn't answer the question of effectiveness.
