Sure, I "get" that, it's what makes the Navy (& any other service) so fanatical about fire safety.
It's no joke!

And yet... and yet... in this case they not only didn't prevent the fire, they were then not prepared to put it out and it burned for days, apparently destroying the ship.
Almost unbelievable.

And that's why, when I saw photos of the BHR, my first thought was that similar Chinese ship, under construction, which caught fire in April.
I well remember how much cackling & clucking there was then about how the Chinese fire may not have been so "accidental".
So maybe these days, nothing is truly "accidental"?

Several people, myself included, tried pointing out that these people cackling and clucking over the Russian carrier fire and Chinese amphibious assault carrier fire were idiots. Shipyard fires are not and have never been a sign of naval incompetence, but an awful lot of idiots who don’t have a realistic appreciation of how badly the Navy was damaged by the Obama years and think that the US Navy is still the Navy of their prime years (usually some 20-40 years ago) still think it is. Well, if you think the US Navy is still the godlike super-globe-dominating force sans peer, here’s proof that it isn’t.
