Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam began construction in 2011 and is due to begin filling with water this month
500ft-high, 6,000ft-wide, £3billion construction project spans the Blue Nile, the Egyptian Nile's main source
Egypt bitterly opposes the project, which it calls an 'existential threat' and has hinted it could go to war over it
Satellite images now appear to show lake behind the dam filling up, threatening to spark a war in east Africa

Ethiopia chose not to fund the project through international loans, instead relying on government bonds that citizens, major companies and the state bank were heavily pressured into buying, along with private loans
Though China is not officially funding the project, multi-million pound construction contracts have been awarded to Chinese companies, and the country is also a major lender to Ethiopia - contributing £2.6million in loans, the majority made after construction of the dam started

Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand are at their mercy with the Mekong projects it has going.
Turkey is also daming up the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. Syria and Iraq are at their mercy as well.

Not sure I would be comfortable living below a Chinese built dam either.
The easiest thing to take out with a bomb is a large dam with water behind it. With several countries and religions at each others throats in the area what is the over/under of the number of months the dam exists once operational?

The Nile is west of Israel however.
Look at Turkey and what they are currently doing to the Euphrates & Tigris.

Snap! It’s the Euphrates I was thinking of. But thanks to your post to Ferris I just read what is happening on the Tigris and Euphrates. As hard as it is to see what is happening to our country and the world, we, the Body of Christ, are so blessed to be witnesses of this time leading up to the Tribulation. Amazing!

I think the effect of 60% loss of the water to Egypt will not result in a ‘well we still have 40%’! Given Egypt’s fragility the effect will be like they have zero!
