Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lost the Republican nomination for his old Senate seat in Alabama to former college football coach Tommy Tuberville, likely ending a long political career with a bitter defeat egged on by President Donald Trump.
Tuberville, 65, beat Sessions in Tuesday’s Republican runoff as Sessions fell short in his attempted comeback for a seat he held for two decades before resigning to become Trump’s attorney general in 2017.
Familiar to Alabamians from his decade as Auburn University’s head football coach, Tuberville is now positioned for a strong challenge against Democratic U.S. Sen. Doug Jones. With Alabama’s strong GOP tilt, the seat is widely viewed as Republicans’ best chance for a pickup as they try to maintain their thin Senate majority amid Trump’s lagging popularity nationally.

Near all of AG Session’s staff were Democrats at DOJ. If Trump loses this Alabama race means nothing. We’ll have way bigger problems. If Trump wins Tuberville isn’t going to risk alienating Trump voters who just primaried their popular and long time Senator.

I saw one report that Sessions was losing his home county. Tuberville mopped the floor with Sessions. I predict Graham will suddenly schedule a public hearing on Spygate and we might even hear from Durham soon. The GOP has been put on notice tonight.

Trump’s WH staff did not send more FBI SWAT Agents to arrest Roger Stone on live TV than the Navy sent seals to kill OBL. That was the “Sessions” DOJ that did that.
It wasn’t Trump that voted today in Alabama. It was the good folks who have sent Sessions to the Senate for decades. If they are primarying him now they have good reason. Sessions was the most popular politician in the state. By far. THAT is how bad Sessions has screwed up his reputation by gift wrapping the “Trump” DOJ to partisan Democrats.

Coach Tuberville needs to hire a God loving, God fearing lawyer to help him navigate the HoS. I will pray for his success.
