The Washington Redskins announced Monday that they would be retiring their team nickname and logo, but had not yet decided on their new moniker. In short order, the Navajo Nation offered a new name they believe would be a fitting replacement for the NFL franchise.
Two hours later, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez released a statement celebrating the Washington, D.C., area team's move, while noting that the franchise made its decision due to "mounting pressure and advocacy of Indigenous peoples...and many other warriors who fought long and hard for this change."

You don’t name your team after some wimps you scorn
Custer's command had 12 companies total, of which 3 companies under Renno, 3 more under Benteen and one company under McDougall survived.
Custer took five companies to Little Big Horn, of which none survived.
So, as a percentage, deaths were roughly half.
At the Battle of the Wabash (aka St. Clair's defeat), almost the entire command of about 1,000 men was killed by an equal number of Native Americans lead, in part, by Little Turtle.
If we compare the numbers killed to US populations then & now, in today's terms, Custer lost about 3,500 men but St. Clair lost over 100,000!
It's the greatest American army defeat nobody ever heard of.
You'd have to ask Big Chief about that -- he big like bull, sits in councils, inspires warriors at Little Big Horn, not like Custer...
