The Washington Redskins announced Monday that they would be retiring their team nickname and logo, but had not yet decided on their new moniker. In short order, the Navajo Nation offered a new name they believe would be a fitting replacement for the NFL franchise.
Two hours later, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez released a statement celebrating the Washington, D.C., area team's move, while noting that the franchise made its decision due to "mounting pressure and advocacy of Indigenous peoples...and many other warriors who fought long and hard for this change."

Well, you can always have Nicholas Cage standing by with a weapon to shoot someone who is ‘messing up’.
Wonder if people have accepted the fact that was HIS JOB in the movie? I do know a lot of shorts got in a tangle when that little tidbit was revealed.
ALSO if DannyBoy got any guts, he will change the name Washington ... -he can cite that since DC didn’t ‘like’ his name he will also change it and NO he will NEVER move back to DC (Well, we know how ‘good’ his word NEVER is) BUT he can also note that the way the Nutzos are going the name George Washington will be struck from ALL records so he will change Washington NOW so as not to get stuck with the expense of changing that next time.
DO any of these fools have a clue how much a name change really costs?

I believe that a name should be both evocative and truthful.
Call the team: The Washington Criminals.
Irrelevant.. The NFL will file for bankruptcy within two years with no fans in the stands and no conservative viewers. Once their TV ratings plummet, they will have trouble selling ads, and they will have to reduce the players’ salaries. Then they will go on strike for an extended length of time leading to either the NFL closing down or trying to win back its GOP base.
Why take a chance by naming the team anything to do with whinging crybabies? Stay the hell away from anything to do with Indians.
Sponsors make the difference.
As they do in all of television/entertainment.
So Indians are not first Americans.

Smoke signalers...? How about the Washington Braves? or the Washington Blackhawkes? Or the Washington Super Chiefs? There’s a CFL team called the Ottawa ‘Red Blacks’... They apparently don’t mind offending both blacks and reds.
