The Washington Redskins announced Monday that they would be retiring their team nickname and logo, but had not yet decided on their new moniker. In short order, the Navajo Nation offered a new name they believe would be a fitting replacement for the NFL franchise.
Two hours later, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez released a statement celebrating the Washington, D.C., area team's move, while noting that the franchise made its decision due to "mounting pressure and advocacy of Indigenous peoples...and many other warriors who fought long and hard for this change."

The players could keep their helmets and just paint the swamp rat over the old logo.
All they need are new Swamp Rat stickers.
The Navahoes were the code talkers during WW2, not other tribes. So they want to be honored in the Indian nation at the expense of the other tribes. Is everything in this world of identity politics about tribal narcissism and being recognized as special whether Indian, black, disabled or transgender?
First Americans? I seriously doubt that.
Washington Code Talkers? ...................... Washington Leakers is more apropos.
I guess “Forked Tongues” doesn’t really work.
How about the Noble Savages?
How about Swamp Things?
The Washington Cucks. Politicians standing by, watching us get f*cked.
The Navajo was nowhere around D.C. They have not voice in the matter.

“The District of Columbia shares borders with Maryland and Virginia, and connect with lands along the Anacostia and Potomac River. These river systems and current national parks are where the Piscataway, Pamunkey, the Nentego (Nanichoke), Mattaponi, Chickahominy, Monacan, and the Powhatan cultures thrived.”
Washington First American Persons?
The Clovis People
“We’re just taking it back.”
Washington Cork Soakers.
Washington Foreskins.
Washington Thinskins’ though “Washington” is a problem.
Interesting name because bulls don't sit.
Put an NFL team in Albuquerque and Code Talkers might be OK. In Washington? If they don’t like my suggestion of “Rhinos” then just go with “Generals”. I expect they will keep the “Red”, however, for continuity - and that appears to be what the trademark squatter guessed, also. :)
How about “Washington’s Troops”, in honor of the men who fought with George Washington, whose name is the namesake of Washington D.C.. Who can’t cheer for our Troops?
