The Washington Redskins announced Monday that they would be retiring their team nickname and logo, but had not yet decided on their new moniker. In short order, the Navajo Nation offered a new name they believe would be a fitting replacement for the NFL franchise.
Two hours later, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez released a statement celebrating the Washington, D.C., area team's move, while noting that the franchise made its decision due to "mounting pressure and advocacy of Indigenous peoples...and many other warriors who fought long and hard for this change."

Well the first arrivals to the US did so about 20,000 years ago and sadly they didn’t take pictures. Anglo’s are as closely related to them as American tribes, if you believe humans migrated out of Africa as science tells us. There’s still debate about whether we arrived on the west coast or the east coast first.

The “redskins” were called that because they painted themselves red to scare their enemies....then they killed them.

The Cleveland Indians called themselves that because their famous star pitcher was a Penobscot Indian named Louis Sockalexis.

This year is going to be a record for the lexicographers (dictionary mavens). The LEFT is doing very well at moving the goal posts by manipulating the language and, of course, their cohorts in the MSM have no problem in perpetuating their word crimes.
As an example, here is another word I had to look up. Given that all of the citations are from LEFT wing sources, it is almost frightening; Incel! The article where I saw its use was about the dangers from militias, white supremists etc.
I suppose “F@#k you and the woke horse you rode in on” would never fit a jersey.
There was no insult to being named the Redskins. It was a compliment. I guess the team can become the Washingtion Native Americans or the Washington Indigenous Peoples.

Its a nice tribute, but the two word name itself sounds awkward to me.
Maybe it should be shortened to either:
Washington Talkers
or the
Washington Coders?
I propose; “The Washington Post Turtles”.
