Jeff Sessions dismisses Trump's 'juvenile insults': 'My honor and integrity are far more important'

"As you know, Alabama does not take orders from Washington," Sessions told Trump.

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions blasted President Trump's "juvenile insults" on Saturday in a marked departure from his characteristically tepid responses during the years of attacks from his former boss.

Trump had tweeted that Sessions was a "disaster" while offering support for Alabama Republican Tommy Tuberville, who's running against Sessions for the Senate seat he held for decades before entering the Trump administration. "Jeff Sessions is a disaster who has let us all down. We don’t want him back in Washington!" Trump wrote.

Whatever was Sessions’ logic for recusing himself we can debate all day. Perhaps he was looking to do the right thing.

The one thing Sessions did that should NEVER be forgiven or forgotten is to NOT share this decision with President Trump.

Why he didn’t we can only speculate. Did he think Trump would say no and Sessions wanted it to be yes? Did he think Trump needed to be investigated by the wonderful clear-talking Mueller to prove innocence?

But he went ahead and did what he did and there’s nothing, NOTHING, right about it.

Calling Jeff Sessions a “disaster” as AG isn’t juvenile. It’s reality.

I loved this guy as a US Senator but we have to admit the failure didn’t end as a disappointment when he recused. Jeff was compromised in ways that I won’t describe as it involves the usual unseemly conjecture.

He had to know the Deep State would come after him. He had to know that he would be hammered and bludgeoned to step out of the way and allow Deep State Rosenweasel be put in his place.

As everyone knows, it was Rod Rosenweasel who cleared the path for Mueller to be installed as the figurehead in that scam investigation to cover up the Russia Collusion Hoax crimes which are plentiful.

It all began with Jeff Sessions. His recusal cost President Trump most of his first term and almost cost us our country.

Sessions did his job.

If Sessions had any honor or integrity he would have resigned ... instead of using his buddies in the Senate as a shield and putting the country through three plus years of hell.

Apparently, he's learned nothing.

There are things that do not come out about an administration for many years afterward. We are still learning things about the inner workings and decisions of the Kennedy administration! I think that it will be many years before we have certain evidence about Sessions. I tend to think that he was not a bad man, but simply out of his depth and made wrong decisions. And when he got out so far, he didn't have the fortitude to pull back. Some of you who despise him may be right, however. Time will tell.

I'm not sure that Tuberville is such a strong conservative either, especially on immigration. On that Sessions is much better. Either man will be much better than the dummy Alabama has now! And, if Sessions is nominated he will be the greatest thing since sliced bread according to President Trump! Just the way things go!

Sessions also used his buddies in the Senate as a public shield against termination ... denying the President the opportunity to replace him.

There’s something really wrong with Jeff Sessions.

If I remember correctly, Sessions offered his resignation and Trump decided against it. Either way, Trump was stuck with Rosenweasel because McConnell wasn't going to schedule hearings for a replacement.

Shrew Ann Coulter was especially vociferous about this twitter exchange, saying: “He HAD to recuse himself”, without explaining at all why he had to.

The never-Trumpers are incensed that Trump is abandoning the Sméagol-like twit Sessions...

Actually, Alabama, and all 57 [sic] states take orders from Washington. That little matter was settled in 1865.

I agree with President Trump. Sessions needs to go but we must get that leftist democrat out of the Senate.

Sessions did his job.

You’ve GOT to be kidding...

What job exactly did he do? After recusing himself unnecessarily, he held on to his position and did literally nothing but give speeches about the evils of marijuana. All the while allowing Trump’s enemies to attempt a coup.

'My honor and integrity are far more important'

So why don't you go out and get some, learn about it, and do it?

So now, Sessions finally finds his balls.

The Keebler Elf had no cajones when fighting the Deep State.

Only now that he has grown testicles, he decides to fight Trump. So typical of Republicans. /spit.

POTUS was under constant and public threat from the likes of McConnell, Graham, et al and leadership in the DOJ not to touch Sessions.

When you think about it, it’s pretty damn frightening.

I don’t know what made Sessions think he was irreplaceable. I do understand why he was to the coup plotters.

Apparently, while Jeff Sessions was Attorney General, he decided to shove his hotel up his alpha. It’s been stuck there ever since.

I guess it depends on how you look it at. Sessions was nuertered when he recused. Firing Rosenstein and/or Mueller would have been the bigger threat to Trump's presidency.

“Sessions did his job.”

Yes, for the deep state.

Running again for his old position at his age, while showing no remorse or offering any apologies for what he did to Trump (and the country) shows whose pocket he is in!

If elected he will ally with McConnell and Romney.

Next, after electing Tommy, we (Alabama) need to get rid of Jones and “deep state” Shelby

Sessions was Svengali’ed by the duplicitous Rosenstein, and traitors like Lindsay Graham, who also urged his recusal. It was a devastating error. But I would still vote for him over the open borders regard Tuberville.
