In the East Bay, in what's believed to be a first in the nation proposal, the City of Berkeley has proposed ending police traffic enforcement.

Next week, Berkeley's City Council will vote on a proposal to create a Department of Transportation and use employees in that department to make traffic stops instead of Berkeley Police officers.

"A minor traffic violation should not have resulted in the murder of a black or brown body, but at the same time we can also re-examine the nature of punitive law enforcement and broken windows policing that makes traffic enforcement so deadly to begin with."

I like these types of moves as long as they are somewhere far away like Cali. People can learn the results of stupidity in a pilot plan rather than in the entire country.

The transportation workers will eventually become armed after the first assault, then the armored cars and then we’ll be back where we’re at...

Police will not be necessary in the coming utopia. That’s pretty much what they’re telling us.

The murder of a black or brown body? Is English no longer the language of Berkeley?

Traffic law enforcement is a revenue stream for cities... I don’t see this happening

Teach your "Black and Brown" citizens how to act like civilized people instead of Feral Animals and there won't be any problems.

Comply - Don't Die

See, I even made it rhyme so you can use it in your next Rap "song".

Its doubtful that the people out there are capable of learning. They just emote and therefore never change.

That is just re-arranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic and calling them by a different name.

If DoT personnel are going to be enforcing traffic regulations — THEN THEY ARE POLICE.

How stupid can Libs be????????????????

How many of these employees will be beaten or murdered before:

A. the surviving employees simply quit making traffic stops?
B. the policy is reversed?

“Body”, used in this way, is a term imported from academia. It has become more broadly prevalent in the past year or so. It is similar to “space”. As in “safe space”, which can be a physical space or a state of mind.

When you hear people use it, you know they’ve got a whole cockeyed world view behind it.

Body?

Not person?

These crazy leftists always talk about bodies. Very dehumanizizing. Something seriously wrong with them psychologically, spiritually etc...

So, what are these kind, benevolent DoT people going to do when someone refuses to stop? Or worse? Either they’ll have guns and “authoritah”, in which case they’ll be cops. Or they’ll be a joke.

What they really want is camera-bots everywhere and they just mail you a ticket and demand you pay their robbery. Their client knuckle-dragger constituency won’t pay or have to, of course.

Resistance will be the norm. Plenty of pedestrian deaths...murder by car. No one to give chase. The effect of marijuana and mind altering drugs and mental disease and solipcism all in plain sight.
If you are smart you will get out of there. I pity the old folks who will be raped, beaten, and killed.
