Iran is facing a total intelligence breakdown. With another explosion on Thursday night, reportedly at an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facility, the question is not only how anyone has pulled off up to seven attacks in around two weeks, but how has the Islamic Republic repeatedly failed to stop them.
From 2010-2013, the regime succeeded in cracking a CIA cell and eliminated many CIA operatives. Even when the US and Israel, according to foreign reports, breached Iran's security for its nuclear program with the Stuxnet virus in 2009-2010, they had to use assets of Dutch intelligence.
In general, Iranian counterintelligence is known to perform at a much higher level than most of Israel's other adversaries. Sometimes they falsely announce arrests of Mossad agents who are just political opposition members, but sometimes they can flush out spies at a professional level closer to the world's top powers...

The obvious answer is that the counterintelligence guys are no longer loyal to the regime. It’s easy enough to pretend to do your job.
I wonder what made them so mad.
Maybe their parents died in the Iranian equivalent of nursing homes from a virus imported from China?
I wonder if the killing of Salamani(sp) had anything to do with it?
Hmm. I think you have something there.
I forgot about him.
So much has happened this year.
Taking care of business now just in case Basement Joe manages to steal the election.
Golly. I wonder if they got any help from our end?

On top of that the covid outbreak they had with their top officials and who knows who else couldn’t have helped things much either from their perspective.
Considering how much money Obama threw at them, it’s almost a given.
I love this reporter’s name.
Actually, in terms of your average Persian Iranians tend to be quite bright. The article mentions Israeli opinion, with which I would tend to agree. If the government theocrats and their enforcers were somehow no longer able to cow and terrorize their own people they’d be good to have on our side once more. 1979 events are probably the worst example of incompetence in a completely incompetent four years of peanut farmer administration. And Obama in 2009, as usual, out performed him on the same stage.
They aren’t attacks. their leaders have asserted they are just accidents.
Why would we not believe them?
I agree that the average Persian in America is very bright, but that would represent the upper echelon of their society. I'm not sure how the average, run of the mill, Iranian stuck in Iran would rate. But, I also agree with you, a lot of the apparent incompetence might be more of an outcome of chaffing while being under the boot of fanatic Islamic theocrats. I believe the educated Persians would not be great fans of Islam (having historically been Zoroastrians - prior to their conquest by the Islamics).

I am thinking after each attack some guy in the intelligence dept is taken out and shot : )
