Officials in New York’s Rockland County announced on Wednesday that they had issued subpoenas to eight people allegedly infected by the coronavirus for refusing to speak with contact tracers voluntarily.

“The health of our county” will not be “compromised because of ignorance, stupidity, or obstinance,” Ed Day, the county executive, told reporters.

Until the Chinese virus has been declared a national disaster I fail to see the legitimacy of these draconian government interventions into the privacy of citizens. Enough with the violation of protected rights.

I believe they have the right to file a motion to quash which would delay things beyond any answers being relevant. But I’m not an attorney.

Plead the 5th against self incrimination then clam up.

This contract tracing is yet another politicized scam as they’ve already said they won’t ask if a person has been in a demonstration/riot. This shows they’re not scientific, just going thru some obscene political theater.

Shoot. I’d be happy to talk with contact tracers. I got high scores in my college Creative Writing classes, so I think I could come up with something interesting to share. And I’d be wasting their time, too.

It’s like when Jehovah’s Witnesses would come to the door when I was growing up. Mom would eagerly invite them in, give them coffee, listen to their spiel as long as they wanted to talk, and act as interested as she could. (They didn’t know it was the Baptist parsonage.)

I asked why she did it and she said if they were talking to her they weren’t bothering other people.

Well, Ed, as long as we’re on the subject of ignorance and stupidity, the word is “obstinacy”.

and if they make this for all the five boroughs or if they already had they better bring four or five cops with them if they come to my door.

Cuz that’s how many it took last time to get me to leave my house involuntarily.

It’s been a colorful life :-)

I refuse to testify unless given full immunity from any crimes I may have committed, including any acts not presently criminal but which may be made criminal ex post facto. Said immunity to be endorsed by the attorneys general of all of Obama’s 57 states and the Attorney General of the United States. as well as approved by the International Criminal Court.

When you present said document, I’ll be happy to answer the questions propounded.

Yep. My daughter is an attorney. She said not to make stuff up to be a smart ass. She said to defer the meeting until your attorney is present. You can have your attorney call them and schedule a meeting to answer any legal matters in the proper context and with competent legal counsel. There is nothing they can do.

My response would be:

"A subpoena must have some basis in the law, and there is no predicate for this intrusion."

"You didn't give a damn about tracing HIV/AIDS and there is no legal basis for insisting that I talk with some unqualified busybody about my contacts."

Subpoenas are only expensive if you hire a lawyer. I'm quite capable of telling them to go to hell without one.

Ed day, Democrat bean counter extraordinaire is obviously an expert in “ignorance, stupidity, and obstinance,” when he pots danger to the county over danger to the country. Boy needs a down home country ass whupping.

"What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if... people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport ...." - Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

Anyone introduce this Ed Day to his congressional representative Sandy Cortez?
