Man Shot After Protester Fires Handgun Into SUV During Utah BLM Protest

Provo police have confirmed that one person was shot during a protest Monday night near the police department.

The victim, a 60-year-old Provo resident, remained hospitalized Tuesday but was “stable,” according to police. The man was not part of the protest or counter-protest that had been going on, but was just driving in the area, said Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King.

Leftists on Twitter are claiming the shooters were “standing their ground” and “have a right to kill the driver” since he “attacked them with a deadly weapon.”

Shooter was on the left side of the vehicle and was not in any danger.

On Monday, a group calling itself Back to Blue planned to drive around the Provo Police Department and honk their horns to show support for law enforcement.

Another group planned a counter protest at the same time and place. On Facebook, their event page was originally titled End Police Brutality but was later changed to Marching for Racial Equality. The Facebook pages list the event’s hosts as the groups Insurgence, Solidarity for Justice, Salt Lake Equal Rights Movement and the Salt Lake Antifascist Coalition."

I wouldn’t think this would happen in Utah. I know in Texas, vehicles have the right of way. We have a carjacking law, so people with guns who try and stop vehicles can be shot.

I could always see it happening in Utah, plenty of prominent politicians and religious leaders of the main religion of Utah, Mormonism, have made their offers to appease BLM. They invited them in.

The shooting provides the justification for ramming through in the future.

“The crowd forced me to stop. I was surrounded by angry protestors beating on my car. I though I saw a gun pointed at me by a protestor. I was in fear of my life. So I hit the gas to escape.”

Just make sure you do it from a dead stop because the crowd is not letting you pass.
