We must have no stigma, none, about wearing masks when we leave our homes and come near other people. Wearing simple face coverings is not about protecting ourselves, it is about protecting everyone we encounter.
Any reason why you’re purposely not mentioning the state you live in?
Your fatality percentages are wildly out of whack and long ago discredited. There are no current forecasts of 600k to 2.3M dead from C19, even as states & counties reopen.
Granted, more cases are appearing, because there is much more testing, and low risk groups (young, healthy) are intermingling and becoming infected, with mild or no symptoms. Children are virtually immune. And thankfully, hospitalization and death rates are holding constant, with hospital stays cut in half. We now know how to detect & treat. Who must be protected are older, less healthy adults.
Yes, vaccine is best, and it looks promising for a number of candidates. However, the country cannot remain in lockdown. Perhaps you can, but most cannot.
Last, nobody is intentionally spreading the virus. It’s just crazy talk.
‘He could have the disease and infect dozens or hundreds of people.’
so he should go to jail for a year and pay 5 grand...? sorry, I try to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I gotta say, you’re insane...
Oh? Really? It’s about “timing”?
Who knew?
The message is fine, but the “timing” is some kind of issue? I think I’m going to faint from the wordsmithing going on.
Clarity is dead. Whatever happened to “Let your ‘YES’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘NO’ be ‘No’”?
‘Any reason why youre purposely not mentioning the state you live in?’
I think he’s been drinking heavily; that or he’s nuts...
All about conditioning people for the coming “Social Credit” system that China is implementing.
I agree with Mitch. In addition he should also tell people to frequently wash their hands, stay home when they are sick, practice social distancing etc. If people, especially the younger crowd, would just follow some of these basic steps, we could put this behind us.
Mitch McConnell: WEAR MASKS, he says without evidence.
+1
(The exception: all members of congress should have to wear face masks at all times.)

This is a losing issue. You are not going to change the minds of the majority of already frightened Americans that masks are bad. This is becoming our new birther issue that doesn’t help us.

222 miles completed, 333 miles under construction, 183 miles under pre-construction. (738 Total)
That’s how the border is doing. President Trump keeps his promises.
I'm actually noticing women are looking a lot better in the mask era - maybe it will become permanent? :)
McConnell is as corrupt as Joe Biden is. I wish we could get rid of him tomorrow.
If you have more up to date IFR numbers from CDC or others who are credible, please feel free to share them. CDC says "lower bound of 0.26%" http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3848180/posts and Johns Hopkins says "The current best estimates for the infection fatality risk are between 0.5% and 1%" http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3855890/posts
"hospitalization and death rates are holding constant"
Hospitalization rates are rising in 16 states: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/25/record-spikes-in-us-coronavirus-cases-push-up-hospitalization-rates-in-16-states.html. Including Texas where the Texas Medical Center (a 2.1 square mile complex employing over 106,000 people and caring for over 10,000,000 patients each year) is reporting that they're at 100% ICU capacity and are now into surge capacity: https://www.tmc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/m-TMC-2-week-projection-using-bed-occupancy-growth-6-29-2020.png
"the country cannot remain in lockdown. Perhaps you can, but most cannot."
I can't and neither can the rest of the country. I've never once suggested otherwise. I have never been in favor of lockdowns. I don't think they do anything helpful. All it does is inspire masses to crowd into Costco to panic-buy stupid things like toilet paper while spreading this thing like crazy. And in the meantime, it thrusts millions into poverty which will definitely kill people regardless of their age or overall health going into this. No, I support a Swedish approach of social distancing and protective measures to limit the spread with the caveat that we must do a better job than they have at protecting our vulnerable. That includes the nursing homes, but also the elderly who are not in homes along with everyone who is immunocompromised (such as cancer patients, HIV+ individuals, people on immune suppressors, etc.) and everyone who has an underlying condition that has been shown to rapidly worsen with COVID-19 (such as bad asthma, COPD, etc.)
"Last, nobody is intentionally spreading the virus. Its just crazy talk."
"please dont wear a mask. the best thing you can do is spread it, if you have it." http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/3860421/posts?page=9#9
That's what I was reacting to; this insane notion that we should be spreading a disease far and wide. That will kill people. It's murder. It should be illegal by man's law. It most certainly IS illegal by God's law. We need to manage this problem responsibly, which means no useless lockdowns and it means no insane help-the-virus activities. It means people acting like sane, rational, reasonable human beings to keep our fellow human beings alive while we work on a vaccine.
If we are breathing thru our noses, how can we infect anyone more than 3 feet away? The virus doesn’t have wings.
Mitch,
STFU.
Confirm Judges.
In that order.
