New Jersey will not reopen indoor dining this week as planned in the first major reversal of the state’s Phase 2 coronavirus reopening plan, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday.
Indoor dining was scheduled to resume Thursday along with several other big reopening steps including Atlantic City casinos, amusement parks, boardwalk rides and arcades ahead of the busy July 4th weekend. The canceled reopening also includes wedding venues and banquet halls. But the reopening of casinos remains scheduled for Thursday.
Murphy cited recent scenes from expanded outdoor bar and restaurants showing packed crowds not wearing masks and ignoring social distancing as a reason from pausing indoor dining indefinitely.
Murphy had provided the detailed restrictions for indoor dining at restaurants on Saturday, but changed his mind just two days later. The restrictions had included 25% capacity limits, tables spaced 6 feet apart, face coverings for staff and other rules....

Exactly. How in the world do they think our immune system works? Perhaps more should crack a textbook on the human immune system. A sterile environment is not a healthy environment.

Yup. I knew this would happen. He doesn’t want to give up his role as Petty Dictator just yet. Deaths in the entire nation are in the hundreds and at their lowest point since March. Oh. NJ hospitalizations are under 1000. This is a sick little man getting himself off on power. Florida is in the best place it can be right now. This virus is not magically going to disappear until our immune systems kill it!

Looks like some Democrats in blue states will be lacking money and tax revenues needed for continued political influence in the near future.

Just don’t expect me to pay for such a miserable existence because no sane person could call that a “lifestyle”. It ain’t livin’.
Here in NJ it is very expensive, and those unemployment benefits in the end are taxable to the recipient. Anyone doing better on unemployment here was barely scraping by before.
That assumes they are lucky enough to actually get the unemployment benefits...
As with the stimulus, everyone will get what they are owed; I sympathize with them, but I can’t exaggerate what this has done to the economy here. For years this state has chased out real jobs, and replaced them with a post-manufacturing, post-service economy based on entertainment - and those jobs are the most vulnerable to this virus.
Everyone I know is still getting paid while working from home, but it is an older demographic that still had some of the “real” white-collar jobs left here. Younger people and the foreigners we’ve imported here as a working underclass are screwed - and the illegal ones (rightfully) can’t get unemployment.
I grew up in the PDRNJ (People’s Democratic Republic of New Jersey). I’m glad I left.
