LOUISVILLE, Ky—At the Express Consignment Operations hubs in Louisville U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized a shipment from China that contained over 10,000 Assault Weapons parts being smuggled into the country.

“The importing of any type of munitions is regulated by the ATF,” said Thomas Mahn, Port Director, Louisville. “This smuggler was knowingly trying to avoid detection, however, our officers remain vigilant, ensuring our community is safe.”
Wonder if someone in Melbourne, Florida got a a wake-up call.

So these 10,800 parts were estimated by CBP to be worth about $10 each. They must be really dangerous. More dangerous than 10,800 illegal aliens.
The address in Florida, I am betting, was a drop location not owned / rented / occupied or in any way tied to the para-military, marxist DemonicRats expecting to receive the shipment.

Right, but whats the point of sending weapons to people if they aren’t using them. Unless the market for gun manufacture is so big right now that China is getting in on the action.
I think that’s probably the reason. The gun market has exploded in the last few months.
They may be illegally importing cheap “gun parts”, but there is no such thing as “assault weapon” parts.
The parts have to be small and light for 10,800 to fit in one cardboard box, capable of being lifted by one person.
Probably less than 70 lbs, or averaging one tenth of an ounce per part.

The address part of this story would be the more interesting thing to get to. If it’s not a gun-shop, then it leads to questions of private groups being armed for something. But I can’t imagine Melbourne, Florida being some terror-for-hire situation.
Alternative theory: Someone was buying AR-15 parts that would be used to complete the manufacture/assembly of AR-15s with no serial numbers. “Ghost guns”. Buy the parts that allow the mating of AR-15 uppers and lowers that someone would need to complete the weapon. Make the parts available to anyone who is building a ‘ghost gun’.
That looks like simple lower parts kits. If they had been properly declared that would not be illegal. Plenty of Chinese crap AR parts in the US. This really seems like sensationalist reporting to score political points. Look at the size of the box. I’m not excusing the lying on a customs form, but they are being way over dramatic on this. I’m seeing an AR trigger disconnector in one of the bags. That means they are counting detents, springs, and pins each as parts. Nothing inherently dangerous about a random assortment of springs and detents.
(If Seattle councilbint Kshama Sawant did indeed unlock the PD and thus provide access to weapons, why isn't the FBI all over her ass like they were Randy Weaver? Why no latter-day Lon Horiuchis ordered to give her the same chance they did the Weavers?)
The double standards are beyond all calculation.
There are a lot of AR parts dealers and manufacturers in Florida. I’m guessing that a shop ordered some Lower Parts Kits for retail sales and the manufacturer in China listed the contents incorrectly to avoid import duty. The buyer probably wasn’t even aware that the manufacturer would do this. Customs is just making political hay and way overstating both the risk and severity of this “seizure”.

Last place people would look for this. I’m just surprised they took it through Kentucky to get there as this “hub” has a history of hot stuff coming through. That wasn’t very smart. The place is covered with feds. Couldn’t get anything through there right now.
