There is now overwhelming evidence from Europe and Asia that universal masking prevents transmission and speeds the rate of decline in new cases to near zero. This has occurred in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Taiwan, Vietnam and elsewhere.
Whether the benefit is worth the burden is a valid discussion. Saying that universal masking doesn’t work is a lost cause.
While in some ways I like your post, this is too much of a one-size fits all solution.
I live in a county of 120,000 that had 25 cases total, including two new cases in June. We presently have one active case that has been confined to hospital for weeks. Why should I have to keep a mask on my 4 and 7 year old?

I’ve been forced to wear one just 2x through all of this; once to go to a Big Box store, and once to take my 83 year old Mom to buy shoes.
Other than that, I have not complied. My County is Covid-Free and I’ve not left the County between January and June, 2020, and that was to pick up my Dad’s ashes, who died in the middle of all this foolishness. :( (Cancer, NOT Wuhan Flu!)

Wearing a sometimes filthy mask that most people aren’t using properly anyway to begin with that contains one’s own Co2 exhaust, virus and bacteria trapped in a warm humid environment (around your mouth and lower face) has the great potential to increase the numbers (by touching the mask repeatedly and then touching surfaces) or do nothing at all in prevention.
Many people wearing them I have spoken with are short of breath wearing them, are getting rashes around their lower faces because of them and are experiencing regular head aches they didn’t have before. Hello! Your body is rejecting them.
The potential to break down people’s own immune systems wearing these things and decreasing their oxygen levels to dangerous numbers is a bigger danger to most then a virus.
People use their hands and touch their face possibly MORE by wearing a mask and putting it on and taking it off adjusting it etc...Masks have become a germ-harboring false security binkie and may indeed increase risks of health problems.

Step 4. He laughs all the way to the election, because he tricked another Democrat into embracing all the unpopular positions, like raising taxes, letting illegals swarm across the border, confiscating guns, killing unborn babies....
.... and leaving Republicans with the popular political positions, like lowering taxes, securing the borders, protecting the 2nd Amendment, protecting the unborn.
