The thunderous sound of fireworks their blasts sudden, deafening and often terrifyingly similar to gunfire have reverberated throughout the Bay Area in recent weeks.
Residents in the big cities and even in the quieter suburbs report the explosions started over Memorial Day weekend and have persisted through June, waking them in the night, interrupting their babies' naps and scaring their pets.
Fireworks packaging has been found around Lake Merritt in Oakland, and Nextdoor boards and Twitter are filling up with news of the booms and bangs in San Francisco.
"Im losing my mind," said SF resident J. Barry. "Were in South Bernal and its been super challenging for us. We rescued a dog at the start of quarantine, and shes obviously not responding well to all of this, nor are our 4- and 6-year-old children. The M80s or M1000s are nothing short of heart stopping. One went off last night at 2:30 a.m. and shook our house, windows, ceiling fans. Our family of four was all up for about two hours trying to calm down. So we are all a mess today."
In Hayes Valley, someone posted a sign to a post reading, "Whoever is setting firecrackers in the neighborhood at night, please stop. It's freaking out all our dogs and they're terrified of the loud noises."
One Twitter user in San Francisco reported the fireworks are sometimes so loud that car alarms go off and apartment windows rumble.
The pyrotechnic activity mostly occurs at night, sometimes into the early morning hours. A Twitter user commented that the Palo Alto fireworks usually run from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. nightly.

Chaos is never a good state of affairs.
“that could be cannon fire....”
They should call Antifa. That way they won’t have to deal with those racist cops.
“Hark! Is that a cannon I hear?”
Only a couple weeks ago, they were going off DURING THE DAY here in San Jose. My wife apparently found someone online saying that the fireworks are being set off to desensitize everyone so they won’t notice gunfire.
It sounds crazy, but given some of what’s gone down lately it doesn’t sound THAT crazy.
When the Russian Army was approaching Berlin, they kept up a constant barrage of heavy mortar fire, whether or not it was needed. They did this to demoralize and frighten the German population, particularly in Berlin.
The volume of fire was so great that it could easily be heard 100 miles away. It sounded like a distant thunderstorm that never ended.
Wonder where she read that.
Wonder also if this is something coordinated. All over. Many cities.
Aren’t these the same people who said that the election of Trump was causing them to experience the symptoms of mental illness, such as PTSD and clinical depression?
It sounds like antifa is conditioning the residents to get used to the loud report. Then they will not react to actual gunfire as much.
Definitely. Apparently antifa and BLM have brought a tremendous amount of fireworks. The idea is they are supposed to be used for violence on July 4th
first they had the money from Soros and now with billions of dollars coming from American corporations they can really go all out

It’s been happening in Las Vegas too. Not as bad in my neighborhood but where my son lives it’s every night. His poor dog is so stressed out she goes and hides in the closet.
I believe that plan is true.
Note they are only doing this in areas where the black population is 15% or higher.
Maybe in SF case they have so many active socialists there it may not even matter.
Its going on around where I live. i did notice it started earlier and they are bigger and louder than typical.
I guess I should have gotten to post 8 before I responded.
they said the next phase was burning down the suburbs, killing white people.
I totally believe them.
I will be ready if shiite happens in my neighborhood.
Then we kill them back. 'Scuze me while I order a little more ammo.
