PHOENIX The federal government could give Americans $4,000 apiece to take a vacation if U.S. Sen. Martha McSallys proposal takes off.
McSally (R-Ariz.) introduced the bill, the American TRIP Act, on Monday, the day before President Donald Trump visits Yuma and Phoenix.
The legislation is meant to act as an incentive to travel domestically. Couples would start at $8,000 in vacation tax credits and receive $500 for each child who is a dependent. Credits would apply for 2020, 2021 and 2022.
It will also encourage Americans to safely get out of their homes and discover or rediscover Arizona along with the rest of the amazing destinations our country has to offer after a difficult several months stuck inside, McSally said in a press release.

But where would I go? Vegas? Theme Parks? NYC or DC?
Is the Grand Canyon open? I'd like to go there.
This will require a $6000 tax increase per person, right?
Sounds about right.
Is mcsally a nut job?
Sounds good to me. I’m going camping next month. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to afford the beer.
What a piece of pandering crap.
So, so, so wrong. Our country needs to invest in producing and protect our most damaged by and at risk from our intentional crashing of the economy—not give out incentives for luxury consuming.
As if Americans haven’t had enough time off already!
It’s the kind of stuff that I guess could play well in her vacation-oriented state—and appeal to our president with billions in the luxury travel business.
What? You aren’t going to vacation in CHOP? Oh, yeah, will be dismantled. Oh, well./s
Does a free pony come with the vacation? Who writes this pandering policy garbage for McSally? Does she not realize how transparent it is? It is frustrating when you have a Democrat incumbent Senator and the Republican candidate sounds almost as bad as the Dem when she puts out garbage like this.
Pathetic.
Drudge (sorry to mention the cretin) used to run headlines of “XX% of Americans Not in the Work Force. Record.”
Already on vacation.
The heck?
obviously designed to boost airlines, hotels, car rental, hospitality businesses
they are trying to help McSally get some accomplishments under her belt... bc frankly she’s a horrible senator for AZ.
Poor people won't get anything while the wealthy get free taxpayer-funded vacations.
The ads write themselves.

Haven't thought of this in a long time. In the list of most asked questions of park staff members one was:
"When we get down to the Grand Canyon, is it air conditioned?"
Do you have proof that this trip was for pleasure rather than business? I'll need photographic proof of the increase in your tan, pictures of you with Mickey and your golf score card. According to your TSA report you had three neckties in your luggage. How do you justify that?
CHOP?
That’s not part of the US, right?
So no bailout money to go there.
Great idea, just send the bill to our grandchildren! /s
