EXCLUSIVE: Trump Isn’t Sending National Guard To Seattle — ‘I Think It’s Great Sitting Back And Watching This Catastrophe’
Daily Caller ^ | 20 Jun 20 | Christian Datoc

President Donald Trump isn’t planning on imminently sending federal assets to reclaim the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone in Seattle, Wash. despite repeatedly threatening to do so, he told the Daily Caller in an exclusive Oval Office interview.

Trump spoke with the Caller for more than an hour Friday evening on a variety of issues, including racial inequality, coronavirus, advertising boycotts, John Bolton, China, and the 2020 election.

In recent days, Trump has urged Washington Gov. Jay Inslee to deploy National Guard troops to retake CHAZ and said that he himself “will take care of it” if Inslee fails to act. The president said Monday that he had discussed the situation with Attorney General Bill Barr. When asked by the Caller what Barr is “advising” him to do, POTUS answered, “right now, I think it’s great sitting back and watching this catastrophe.”

The Caller asked, if he indeed isn’t currently planning on intervening, why continue with the tweets and statements indicating he would do so.

“Well, because we can do it anytime we want,” Trump answered.

Washington state is seceding. Unlike the antebellum South, they don’t have the guts or the honesty to admit it publicly. America should treat Washington state as Lincoln treated any state that seceded; however, no Reconstruction stuff. Instead, treat Washington state as a conquered province to be let back in the Union when it behaves.

I did not say he should do something. The country is on the edge, & he is saying stuff like this?

I showed where he could act on his own...federal enclaves

Still arguing that huh? Title 10, when invoked, gives the President authority to act within states (not just “federal enclaves”). President Trump himself just told the reporter he can act anytime he wants within his authority, and he is even discussing this with Attorney General Barr. So if you really want to go into that circular argument again, take it up with President Trump.

Have a nice life.

Where are the parents?? Don’t they wonder why they haven’t seen their kids in THREE WEEKS??!

The parents have no say.

Kiddo will text a few times a day...maybe.

After Trump was elected, someone I know who lives a perfect life in Marin County, told me with a sad face how her daughters were calling her and sobbing and so distraught. Because, you see, these trust fund darlings had ‘worked so hard’ ALL YEAR to elect Hillary.

Probably the *kids* have cancelled the parents who disapprove. Many believe Bad Man forced kiddos’ hand by (gasp) winning an election. They helped these kids get into their universities and paid the tuition. And if they hadn’t, the kids could declare emancipation and get a grant.

I know families with adult children in Seattle & Minneapolis. They do not approve and neither do they discuss their kids. ‘Kids’ is a relative term. The ones I’m aware of are late 30s—early 40s.

“All true but it is primarily a state responsibility to restore order in Seattle. The governor needs to request assistance from the federal government.”

I’m missing where it says in the Constitution that the President needs to ask permission to suppress insurrection ... just don’t see it. It does however give those guarantees to citizens I referenced. To ignore those foundational principles is to abandon the republican project altogether. Might as well not even have a federal government.

Hard to run as a law and order president when you’re sitting back and watching the catastrophe. Maybe there’s a bigger strategy being worked here, but I don’t see any benefits by allowing this nonsense to continue. The majority doesn’t support what’s being done and the mayor and governor are down with the struggle and are too weak to do anything about it anyway. This would seem like the perfect opportunity to define the choice in November. The vast majority will choose law and order over anarchy.

The rest of us in the state know we’ll have to bail out Seattle...their mess and our taxes.

Each day, another 1-2-3 Washington State voters decide their vote was an error.

If you can discuss this honestly with your neighbors, maybe you can all vote against the progs and change Washington.

If you can’t, it’s best for them to learn actions have consequences.

Not blind to your predicament. I’m sympathetic. But you need a majority against this crap and until you get it, everyone is on their own.

The rest of the country cannot continue to bail out the progs.

I understand the emotion. I get it.

However in this case Trump is doing exactly the right thing — nothing. The left is showing us who they are and Trump can run against it. Trump doesn’t run Seattle.

What we don’t want is a federal military show of force in an urban area. Thank goodness Trump is smart enough to understand that and that sort of restraint and discipline in this case will help him get reelected.

Trump said one thing and then did not follow through. That matters too.

Agree.

Imagine being one of the business owners who was looted and burned out, or a homeowner in an area infested by BLM and Antifa, and being told is "great" to see this mayhem and lawlessness go unchecked.

I don’t think Trump followed through on declaring Antifa a terrorist group.

Trump should follow through if he issues a threat. By not doing so it may cost him the election.

When/if Trump decides to rescue Seattle voters from what they voted for, he will be able to point to this tweet and say “I warned your elected officials to act and to do it quickly, but they ignored me and let it turn into a festering pustule. Vote Red”.

This message is not lost on Washington voters. I thing rural voters are going to turn in large numbers because they are tired of the stupid.

The only thing I can think of is that Trump got some intelligence intercepts from Antif/BLM/Soros/Democrats that talked about trying to set a trap once he Federalized certain states National Guard (i.e. the anarchists shooting their own and blaming it on the Guard).

But even then, it's still capitulation.

If they all start infighting, since they are all really racists, they will be weakened and easier to take down. The President is right...let them destroy themselves and their Democrat overlords.

No...that's not the emotion....He offered help to every state....And all the DEM governors and mayors said we can take care of this without your help.

And so, great Generals and even Jefferson lie in the gutters of these cities because Dems believe in lawlessness.....for the greater good. Really?? Does that make sense?

Why not? You get the government you elect. They elected a communist governor, they elected a communist mayor, who in turn appointed a communist chief of police....hard lesson to learn, but this is the states problem, not the feds... You get the government you elect.
