NEW YORK — The owner of the Uncle Ben’s brand of rice says the brand will “evolve” in response to concerns about racial stereotyping.
Caroline Sherman, a spokeswoman for Mars, which owns Uncle Ben’s, says the company is listening to the voices of consumers, especially in the black community, and recognizes that “now is the right time to evolve the brand, including its visual identity.”
In the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, activists and consumers have demanded that companies take a stand against racial injustice or lose their business.

I don't like instant rice, and only eat white rice when I make stir-fry. I use Carolina White Rice that I cook on top of the stove, and they also make a great Long Grain and Wild Rice with seasoning product that's great with chicken.

They are doing all of that because they despise us. Someday, a statue or food brand won’t be enough, and they will come after us. And that will be the fight.
If you use white characters like Rice Krispies it’s bad
If you use black characters like Uncle ben it’s bad
Corporate America is in a tough spot right now.
We must erase all black mascots, to fight racism?
They need to go full Islam.
Aniconism is the avoidance of images of sentient beings in some forms of Islamic art. Islamic aniconism stems in part from the prohibition of idolatry and in part from the belief that creation of living forms is God’s prerogative.
Company says said avatar "needs to evolve."
So logically the company policy is: black men need to evolve. Ok. I'll post it anyway.

I look at Price not the Name when I buy stuff
To the eyes of this 70 year old white American man, this image is the image of a black American man who has done his best to prepare a satisfying dish of food, who knows it is properly prepared and presented, who feels joy and pride in being able to serve it to his friends, and who will be modest and gracious in receiving the praise his efforts deserve.
When I see this image, I think of all the picnics and pot luck buffets I participated in over my work years and the genuine pleasure expressed by many of my black colleagues in being able to cook delicious food for their friends of all races.
Change it they can do. It is their right. But they will not improve it.
Rice Krispies can make two of the 3 white dwarfs black, and call them O-Snap, Cracka and Cornpop.
How about Mighty White of Ya Rice?
Rice gives you diabetes, anyway.
Listen to my voice, we will never buy pancake mix or rice from these companies again, regardless of what they call them.
