It all started about two weeks ago near a Black Lives Matter rally in Poway when Emmanuel Cafferty, a San Diego Gas and Electric employee, encountered a stranger on the roadway.
The stranger followed Cafferty and took a picture of him as his arm hung out the window of his company truck.
The picture made the rounds on Twitter accompanied by a claim Cafferty was making a "white power" hand gesture made popular by white supremacists groups.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the gesture -- made by forming a circle with the thumb and index finger, and extending and separating the other three fingers -- has been used in recent years by white supremacists to form the letters W and P, but has also long been used as a sign signifying "OK" or approval. Therefore it shouldn't be assumed to be a white supremacy symbol unless there is other evidence to support those claims, according to the ADL.
Cafferty claims he was just cracking his knuckles.

Cafferty is Mexican American and says he comes from a diverse family of all races. He says he's proud of SDG&E for taking any allegations of racism seriously, but he wants his job back.

Yup. There is some other stuff they've done, but I don't remember it. They take innocuous stuff and spread the rumor that it represents "White Power", and they get gullible libs to spread it.
I think they are trying to make everything about "White Power" to the point where anyone can see it has become ridiculous. If everything is about "White Power", then nothing is actually about "White Power."
The guy is clearly hispanic, and not even a "white hispanic". He wasn't even using the correct fingers for the alleged evil OK sign, and the accuser isn't sure he used the sign.
While CA is an "at will employment" state, meaning an employer can fire you at any time without reason, SDG&E made the mistake of firing him specifically for this act. I'd say Mr Cafferty needs a good lawyer. Unless there is more to the story, SDG&E will probably pay him rather than rehire him.
In a word: Liberals! Bad case of Karen-a virus.

Ah, I wonder about the nature of the "encounter." The tolerant left on display again. Disagree with their agenda, their policies, dare to hold a different world view or opinion... All that acceptance and diversity goes out the window. (pun intended) Out come the jackboots and brown shirts. You will be followed. You will be harassed. You will lose your livelihood. The left demands conformance or there will be consequences.

HAHAHA. It's the seriousness of the charge (not that this is)not the facts. Both the company and the activist snowflake need to pay a price, but how in the current environment.

I’m just joking that the only serious issue for the Libertarian Party is the legalization of marijuana and now that so many states have achieved that, the Libertarians are all too stoned to care about any other political issues involving Big Government of loss of freedom.

First off. It is not a white power gesture. That crap was made up to see just how easy it is to punk the Left. When my son was in H.S. the gesture was nothing more than a kind of gotcha to look motion.
