Let us see how long this lasts. Riding a bike requires some level of fitness. I predict there will be many used bikes for sale in a few months.

I bought my LAST piece of exercise equipment many years ago.

I now have enough to hold all my wet towels for drying :)

If I got a bike it would have to be reinforced with Titanium :)

The other thing that people are buying like toilet paper: Kettlebells!! There is currently a shortage ........

Inside the Great Kettlebell Shortage of 2020
https://www.gq.com/story/inside-the-great-kettlebell-shortage

Excerpt:

It didn’t happen exactly this way, but it feels like it did: one day we were all hearing about the coronavirus. The next day, we were all murmuring the phrase “social distancing.” And then the day after that, the kettlebells disappeared. All of them. Ryan McGrotty, co-owner of Colorado gym equipment retailer Rep Fitness, says he’s never seen a rush on his home gym inventory quite like what transpired on Friday, March 13, the day President Trump declared a state of emergency over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rep Fitness did more sales in one day than it normally does in a month. Already it had been dealing with low inventory levels across its home gym lineup because the virus had temporarily shuttered factories in China. When the spike came, the whole system fell apart. Since then, the 55-person company has largely been reorganized to turn away from professional gym gear and focus only on home exercise products. “The demand almost seems infinite,” McGrotty says.

Rep Fitness isn’t the only company in its field that’s been overwhelmed with orders, as you’ve realized if you’ve tried to order weights from anywhere online. The kettlebell is the most obvious flashpoint of our great weight shortage. They’re appealingly simple—just a hunk of iron with a handle, and useful for working out your entire body. But kettlebells are part of a complicated and fragile supply chain, one that’s a microcosm of a global economy currently in crisis.

90% of bikes from China?
All the bikes I’m interested in are made in the US or Italy.

I can vouch for this as I am riding again after being out of the sport for about 7 years. Stores sold out of bikes and bike supplies, and things like bike racks are aslo in short supply.

So, how many months before I can get a great deal on a lightly used and slightly dusty bike?

I’m into my 3rd season of riding 100 miles or more a week.

My trails are filled with morons, kids on training wheels and people riding abreast instead of single file.

A new wheel took a week to get, my LBS is picked clean of inventory and they’re saying resupply in October.

Please, don’t go biking, you might get a cramp or get dirt on your bike.

Still have my good, old fashioned, made in Chicago Schwinn. Cool beach cruiser, setup with the, surf fishin’ gear, and is perfect for a summer trip to an Orange County beach. Caught the Corbina of a lifetime at Sunset Beach a coupla years ago. Life, biking, and fishin’ is good!

Walmart super center today had one adult bike — single-speed cruiser with balloon tires.

My wife and I have 5 bikes. Probably a good time to sell the older ones.

I got my bike serviced last week, and the owner told me he now has a waiting list for bike orders; they have been flying off the shelves. Toilet paper didn’t surprise me, but I never would have guessed bicycles.

Biked to church today.

Did a 24-miler on Friday.

Bumped into a guy who was playing sag wagon, for some of his relatives who were biking from the Wisconsin/MN border, to Yellowstone National Park, covering ~165 to ~200 miles a day.

Man, I felt like a slacker.

I was in NYC today. I've never seen so many bike riders.

People are still not getting back on the subways.

Ahh, my kind of thread.

2 recumbents (LWB and SWB)
2 electrics (26” 48v Schwinn cruiser and a 20” one I made from junk laying around)
2 offroad (dual suspension)

And tons of parts.

The bicycle shortage happened like 2 months ago. Our Walmart hasn’t had them and my wife and I have been on a waiting list for at least a month at a local bike shop, her for a hybrid and me a mountain bike. Haven’t seen anything interesting on Craig List yet.
