I can vouch for this as I am riding again after being out of the sport for about 7 years. Stores sold out of bikes and bike supplies, and things like bike racks are aslo in short supply.

Same here. Our whole family now bikes regularly.

My neighbor said something similar when looking for bikes for his kids.

I noticed that our local Walmarts were out of bicycles about a month ago. I didn’t realize that bicycles were being hoarded. I assumed that it was some sort of supply chain issue. Bikes shops were not shut down by the governor’s stay at home order here in Washington... I see now from articles that some here in Washington were having trouble maintaining inventory.

I assume now that bicycles were being hoarded because of he imaginations of those with apocalyptic fears that the economy would collapse and they would not be able to get gasoline for their cars. I have not noticed more bicyclists than normal on the streets, but that might just be because I have not been paying attention.
