Courtney Lancaster, a mother and Navy Veteran, expressed her outrage after police pulled up to her door and asked to search her home for weapons. According to the police, the school safety officer at Lancasters 11-year-old sons school, Seneca Elementary, called law enforcement after spotting a BB gun in the background of a virtual class meeting.
I had no idea what to think. I’ve never been in any legal trouble whatsoever. I’ve never had any negative encounter with law enforcement, she told Fox 45 News. I had no idea. I really didn’t know what to think.
Although officers searched her 5th graders room and found nothing that compromised the sons safety or that needed to be reported, Lancaster claims that she was shocked.
I felt violated as a parent, for my child, who’s standing there with police officers in his room, just to see the fear on his face, she said.
Part of Lancasters frustrations with the situation were because of her and her sons experience with guns. According to Fox 45 News, not only did Lancaster serve in the military and handle weapons, but her son learned how to shoot BB and airsoft on his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout.
I thought, this is outrageous. This is despicable, she told Fox. I had no idea what in the world could this be over? BB guns never even once entered my mind. How many 11-year-old boys have BB guns?
When she first reached out to the school via email, Lancaster expressed her concerns that she was not contacted first to ask questions before calling law enforcement. Seneca Falls Elementary administrators then told her that the school made the decision to call, fearing for her sons safety after a screenshot of the BB gun circulated to the staff.
It’s absolutely scary to think about, Courtney said. Who are on these calls? Who do we have viewing your children and subsequently taking these screenshots that can be sent anywhere or used for any purpose?
Lancaster also told Fox 45 News that in her first conversation with the principal, the school administrator claimed that the BB gun in the background was equivalent to bringing a gun to school.
Not only is Lancaster unsure of the schools policies on these issues moving forward, but Lancaster also said that shes losing her faith in the school district to keep her privacy.
There’s no more trust. There have just been a series of lies and just no cooperation, she said.
In a statement requested by Project Baltimore, Baltimore County Schools claimed that their priority is always students and staff, but refused to elaborate on the situation.
Our longstanding policy is to not debate individual circumstances through the media. There are multiple ways for families to share concerns with us. In general terms, the safety of students and staff is our chief concern, whether we are meeting in classrooms or via continuity of learning.
Home School wakeup call.

Smile. Be polite. But if they dont have a warrant, just say no.
Next time, kid, say this is your “george floyd protest BB gun” and promise it will only be used to try to shoot the eyeballs out of eevil white capitalists who dare to own property.
“asked to search her home for weapons.”
It seems to me that she simply could have said, “Not just no but HELL NO!”
Was there a warrant involved? Im confused here
The school teacher should have charges files on her for making a harassing police report. Then she should be fired and stripped of her teaching credentials.
When I was a kid, back in 1964 and '65, I used to take a city bus to the downtown "Y" for a swimming lessons. I think I went three times a week, after school.
The "Y" had a shooting range in the basement. It was arranged so that it was actually under the street; there was just dirt behind the far wall, where the targets were.
Anyway, most days when I took the bus, there would be two or three boys in the back of the bus with rifles. They were going to the "Y" too, to practice in the shooting range; they were a little older than me, but not much. Probably in high school. I didn't know them; I was in fourth or fifth grade.
I wouldn't even have noticed them except that they were often holding their rifles with the barrels pointed up, sitting with the rifle stock held against the top of one leg.
At first I thought it was a little creepy, but after a few weeks I didn't even notice them anymore. No one paid them any attention, including the bus driver. When we got to the "Y", they got off with me and went inside like everyone else. No one said boo.
Sometimes I would go into the shooting range after swimming and watch them shoot. There was an older kid who ran it. He let me watch but I had to stand behind a red line on the floor. Sometimes I would steal a glance at his homework as he did it; I realized later that it was calculus, because of all the Greek letters and little dots and primes and integral signs. This was in a medium-size city in Upstate New York.
Big Brother tactics. Home schooling eliminates another intrusion.
Did they bring a warrant?

Maryland....FIGURES
This is the nonsence that the police should just ignore. Or at the least just tried to get a warrant which a judge (if they had any common sense) would have denied.
No doubt this “teacher” has a head full of poisonous ideas that she is passing on to her students. Future Antifa.
That vicious BB gun could have gotten up and shot the kid. They should have arrested the mother on attempted murder (or assault with a deadly weapon at the very least) charges. Or maybe they thought the kid was going to commit suicide. Did Jeffrey Epstein have a BB gun in his cell?
“School administrators” the new age Staci.
Bad enough that screenshots are captured and circulated to wherever anyone wants! Doesn’t the “school” have some liability in peeking into these children’s bedrooms?
Also, don’t for one second think that only the “school” is seeing your “virtual classroom”. It’s all over the Web how un-secure Zoom and other platforms are. Don’t confine the scope of your concern within even the US. China is using the Internet very effectively in world espionage.
