Replacing 'Eyes of Texas' among changes requested by Texas athletes
CBS Sports ^ | June 12, 2020 | Ben Kercheval

Athletes across multiple sports at the University of Texas released a statement through social media on Friday requesting a series of changes that would significantly alter some of the traditions on campus as well as build more awareness of black history at the school.

"We aim to hold the athletic department and university to a higher standard by not only asking them to keep their promise of condemning racism on our campus," the statement said, "but to go beyond this by taking action to make Texas more comfortable and inclusive for the black athletes and black community that has so fervently supported this program."

The letter, unsigned but released "on behalf o the UT student-athletes", asks that the following issues be addressed "through the implementation or a plan for implementation at the start of the fall semester."

Most of the requests -- and there are more than the ones listed above -- are necessary and easy enough to implement.

The more the left demands this nonsense, the more likely a backlash that will benefit Trump. Trump needs all the help he can get.

Amazing isn’t it?

That even still, after all we’ve seen of the utter depravity and degeneracy of the left, there’s still those among us who want to get on their knees and surrender.

To negotiate with the left is no different than negotiating with a psychotic rape gang over access to your self and family members.

*You* can surrender all you want. But you might want to do it much much more quietly.

In the end, Quislings and Vichy are just another branch of the enemy.

We know what you are now.

The building of a permanent black athlete history exhibit to the UT athletics Hall of Fame

Will there be a Hall of Fame for all other races that have been involved in sports at UT?

Renaming an area of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium after Julius Whittier, the first black player at UT

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replacing "The Eyes of Texas" as the school's alma mater with "a new song without racist undertones" while lifting the requirement for players to sing the song after games

That’s just stupid.

I’d be surprised if they didn’t already have a statue of Earl Campbell.

“In Austin it is Steers and Queers. Let’s be honest about this, shall we?”

Being a sixth generation Texan, I know what you are talking about.

Thank you!

Same old, same old. What did these people do to help elevate the University at its inception or now?

They want, by forceful taking, that which they did not build, pay for, or sustained.

Purely an “in your face, I want dat” moment.

And, same old, same old; once given to them it will become a ghetto. Just like has happened in neighborhoods across the world from time immortal.

““Replacing “The Eyes of Texas” as the school’s alma mater”

How about switching to that other famous Texas song about a Woman of Color?

Or Lynyrd Skynyrd:

Not Texas, but still in line with the topic and the South.

They would probably reject "The Yellow Rose of Texas" as being heteronormative.

The same would be true for Marty Robbins' "El Paso."

There is a statue of Campbell...

This is the tactic of the Left. You *never* give up making demands and hysterically painting anyone as "racist" who doesn't kowtow to them.

“It’s coming to A&M, too.”

Back around 1990 several of us alumni went back for a game. Most of the “men” were wearing Italian leather Sandals as fashionable footwear. Few boots were seen either Senior or Justin Ropers.

We knew it was coming then. And we were alumni of less than 10 years.

When I went, the University (which is still a Senior Military College) had been opened to women since 1974. My time was 1979. The ratio of men to women was 9 to 1.

BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!

You must have missed the homosexual reference:

"We'll play the bango gaily"

And the original version, of course, starts like this: "There's a yellow rose in Texas, that I am going to see, No other darky knows her, no darky only me..." So the original version doubly embraces persons of color and then makes homage to the homo.

Of course, one would need to omit the verse added in 1864 which includes:

"You may talk about your Beauregard, and sing of Bobbie Lee,
But the gallant Hood of Texas played hell in Tennessee. "

But, you see, a good 65 - 75% of University of Texas (and almost all others national) starting “athletes” in the major sports are minority and black already. Adding track and the the like, it may well be well over 70%.

So, let us require “athletic scholarships” be awarded for highest high school grades only, with a strict racial quota for each scholarship based on the undergraduate graduating enrollment of each race!

As an old UT Grad, I suggest that if they don’t want to play for Texas then they should just move their racist assessment along. Someone else will be glad to give them a scholarship. Change “THE Eyes of Texas are upon You”? The Eyes are upon you. Go away.
