The nation's top military official has apologized for taking part in President Donald Trump's walk from the White House to St. John's Church for what eventually turned into a controversial photo op after authorities had used pepper balls and smoke canisters to disperse largely peaceful protesters.
"I should not have been there," said Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in a prerecorded video commencement address to National Defense University. "My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics."
"As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from," Milley said in the video address.

"His death amplified the pain, the frustration, and the fear that so many of our fellow Americans live with day in, day out," Milley said.
The protests that have ensued not only speak to his killing, but also to the centuries of injustice toward African Americans," he added. "We should all be proud that the vast majority of protests have been peaceful."

It just hasn't been posted often enough today. < /sarcasm >
I interpreted this literally as the general saying that *he* should not have been there, but that it was fine that President Trump was there. He might be right, that *he* shouldn’t have participated in his uniform.
I smell a military coup in the wind.
Miley has been in DC too damn long
I think of the abject cowardice of our situation and revile these people

He should resign to prove how sorry he is.
Why is senator Cotton from Arkansas supporting him? Why is anyone supporting him? He should already be gone.
If you don’t punish deserters, others will follow in greater numbers.
Another politically correct pussy exposes himself.
Same problem Lincoln had with McCellan.
Most grunts know that an officer beyond the rank of captain is not to be trusted because he’s got the thirty year itch. By the time they reach general their buttons are torn off from so much belly-crawling.
Milley said, “My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics.” To that I would ask, can you name a senior military officer who is not involved in domestic politics?
see, if they say ‘largely’ peaceful than the ‘not-peaceful’ part is supposed to just fade away into the mist and they don’t have to report that the ‘not peaceful’ people at the front of the crowd caused the rest of crowd to be disbursed.
It didnt look like politics to me; what looks like...and is...politics is this general shooting his mouth off about the President.
Milley really needs to be removed. I dont know why Trump tolerates such imprudent and insolent behavior.
You’re right you should not have been there. But saying it now in an interview is twice as wrong. The President is your Commander in Chief. If you don’t like the way he rolls, resign you commission and/or retire.
Getting sick and tired of Old Generals just not fading away.

he is the greatest Savior this country has ever known !!!
the forces of evil and Satan constantly are nipping at his heels - and they can get nowhere
Because he has a shield of Providence around him and no arrow will land upon him
He should be immediately fired.
The other night Tucker said something absolutely true. Democrats used to degrade and downplay the military, they don’t do that anymore because they have successfully infiltrated the pentagon.
“Those are OUR planes now!”
At least Ron Silver (RIP) had a change of heart.
hes been living in a gated community for far too long.
Trump and his staff and republicans, allowed the left-wing media and democrats, to define his support for the church as a photo-op. Once that definition/categorization went national and international, everybody involved became defensive, including this latest shameless apology from an otherwise honorable general.
It’s time to stop being so defensive and time to go on the offensive.
