We should have nuked Mao’s a$$ in 1949. That way the Korean War would never have happened and *all* the Chinese people would have a chance to live in Freedom...not just those outside China.

Due to security concerns, Taiwan's Cabinet on April 7 banned all usage of Zoom by government agencies. Taiwan's Ministry of Education followed suit that same day, barring the video-conferencing product from all schools. Worth repeating. The Taiwanese are definitely aware of the power of the CCP and were also ahead of the world in responding to the Wuhan Virus.
We really need to stand up for Taiwan. They are our friends, and they are friends worth having.

“Zoom is headquartered in the U.S”
The company shut the account down not the country of China.

“the company said it had reactivated the account”
Once they arranged to let the CCP monitor these meetings.
We need an open source decentralized solution for this.

Microsoft teams is what my company(a defense company) uses.
But all truly sensitive info is never discussed on it.
In fact, we have meeting and leave all cell phones etc with the guard.

Good question
Why Chinese law is being applied to a videoconference held in the US?

Down the memory hole.
And Corporate America/Globalists are all on-board with using Zoom for meetings (in spite of security problems that hackers are taking advantage of).
Welcome to the new normal.

We network with teams (posted communications, links to spreadsheets, etc) but conduct conference calls via zoom

Zoom is a US company founded by a Chinese-American man who clearly has his loyalty to the CCP.

I am not aware of one. We need a decentralized solution. Kind of like torrents or peer to peer file sharing. Might have to be audio only at first, sharing only static images, like a PP presentation. No reason I can think of that it could not be done.
