The brother of George Floyd, the black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes, is expected to testify before Congress on Wednesday in a hearing on police practices and accountability, according to reports.
Philonise Floyd is scheduled to speak before the House Judiciary Committee though it remains unclear if hell appear in person on Capitol Hill or virtually due to new social distancing restrictions in place meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus, The Hill reported.
His testimony will come after House Democrats plan to unveil new legislation pushing to repeal the so-called qualified immunity doctrine on Monday. The legal doctrine was created by the Supreme Court to shield government employees, including police officers, from frivolous lawsuits, but has been decried in recent years as allowing bad actors to escape accountability for violating peoples' rights.

Yes-— will he expound on the 5 year prison sentence on his brother for threatening a pregnant woman accosted in a home invasion, and for his methamphetamine/fentanyl “peaceful” rapper background.
They will never stop trying to de-ify yet another street thug-— every 3rd one of them a nascent “rapper” which is another name for drug street runner and addict.
What Congress should demand is the VIDEO, currently blocked, of the opposite side of the van, where this guy’s actions can be evaluated. For real. JUST like the missing crucial segment of the Rodney King “beating” was not released and thus... rioting. But in the trial—was played finally and showed this huge PCP amped up 6’4’ 255 lb. crazy man being tased twice with no reaction still charging them— and thus the subduing and hogtying custody with batons, was required.
What caused them to sit on a hyped doped up dealer passing counterfeit 20’s-— who took methamphetamine/fentanyl and thus already had reduced cardiopulmonary function as a result (known drug related deaths with this combo, without someone sitting on them). There is film record of his actions— and the muslim State AG Ellison (who is an islamofascist) will not allow its release— cause they need the riots.
Judge Janine on her TV show yesterday was brutal in describing killing of George F. She showed almost the entire 9 minute video. The judge wants nothing short of Murder-1 charges against the cop kneeling on neck of GF.
Winner of the most ignorant comment on the thread thus far.

Oh boy, will this be a big dog and pony show.
Judge Janine prosecuted a white shopkeeper for shooting and killng a deranged black man who was beating the white mans father with a baseball bat. I dont trust her judgment.
Sorry, the shooter was a NYPD transit cop. His father was the owner of the deli.
Who’s going to testify for the four Black cops killed by riotors?
I have watched judge Janine for years on Fox News. She is no shrinking violet. She has been pro-Trump all along. I have no reason to doubt her judgement. I had not seen the 9 minute long video showing death of George Floyd. After watching that video, and taking into consideration why GF was subjected to the takedown (trying to pass a $20 counterfeit bill, which as it turned out was genuine) I can not in honesty disagree withe the judge.
Having said that I am more horrified by the arson and looting of businesses all over the country, killing of a retired cop by looters, and total silence by Biden, Hillary, Obama, Schumer, Pelosi etc on the criminal looting and arson going on in multiple cities.
Law and order is the backbone of a prosperous country.
Not at all. If you can make a hero of a thug, you can make an expert of one as well.
Failed English comprehension in grammar school? I have not see anyone making a hero out of George Floyd. Mostly it is outrage for thrusting a knee on neck of a suspect by the cop for almost 9 minutes. The reason? Suspected passing a $20 counterfeit bill, NOT arson, NOT murder, NOT violent behavior, NOT battery, NOT selling drugs to minors, etc. Ironically the $20 bill turns out to be NOT counterfeit! But that is besides the point.
I am 100% against any cop kneeling on the neck of any person suspected of a NON-VIOLENT crime.
Autopsies tell the truth.

Oh, he’s the brother who was whining that he didn’t get to talk long enough with President Trump on the phone when he called the family. Claimed the President kept trying to get him off the call. His brother just died, but he was making it all about himself, and get his 15 minutes of fame. I see he’s now going for 20 minutes.
Maybe John Kerry can get James Taylor to sing “You’ve Got a Friend.”
Murder 1 . They’d have to prove Chauvin left his home that day to deliberately murder anyone, black or otherwise, that it was all pre-conceived, and planned before he set off to work. Have fun trying to prove tnat.
Somebody failed English comprehension in grammar school. English composition, too.
Got it
Act II of this political stageplay begins with a tearful soliloquy from the grief-stricken brother, with appropriately doleful glances from posturing Leftists on the committee dais.
You weren’t there, You didn’t witness the entire incident but somehow, you’re judge and jury based on the one time that what you’re getting (from not being there) couldn’t possibly be fake news...
Got it
Why are you making this difficult?
Was the citizen handcuffed? Yes. Was he unconscious? Yes. Was the cop told by another cop his prisoner had no pulse? Yes. Did the cop continue the assault on a handcuffed and unconscious prisoner for nearly 3 minutes more? Yes.
Is there a fact there you dispute? Or maybe you also want to tell me about controlled demolitions on 9/11?
Well I must confess I hated all language courses in high school and college. My strength was calculus, physics, chemistry and thermodynamics in engineering college.
But the point here is not about whether George Floyd was a good dude or bad dude. It is about snuffing life out of a person suspected of passing counterfeit 20 dollar bill. I blame it more on poor training in police academy. I understand this cop was a rookie.
