The brother of George Floyd, the black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes, is expected to testify before Congress on Wednesday in a hearing on police practices and accountability, according to reports.
Philonise Floyd is scheduled to speak before the House Judiciary Committee though it remains unclear if hell appear in person on Capitol Hill or virtually due to new social distancing restrictions in place meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus, The Hill reported.
His testimony will come after House Democrats plan to unveil new legislation pushing to repeal the so-called qualified immunity doctrine on Monday. The legal doctrine was created by the Supreme Court to shield government employees, including police officers, from frivolous lawsuits, but has been decried in recent years as allowing bad actors to escape accountability for violating peoples' rights.

Was he a witness to the event?
Save us from this
Maybe the House will invite Celine Dion to sing a song for the rioters.
This is getting to be over the top.
The drugs in George Floyd’s system are a reminder of Rodney King.
Meth-—Fentynal-—heroin—damage from smoking both pot & cigarettes-— heart problems.
Funny- Autopsy showed NO subcutaneous bruising on his neck & NO brain Hypoxia....(Lack of Oxygen).
King was full of drugs, also, when police were trying to arrest him PCP primarily.
Maybe they will take out all the chairs so everyone can kneel instead.
Perhaps they could designate June as Hug a Thug Month.
I have an idea for a fundraiser. Have a honky walk from one end of Lake Street to the other. People can donate money for each block he makes it without getting stabbed, robbed, beaten or shot.
Nobody from Hollywood was available?
Was he a witness to the event?Everyone is. Haven't you been reading the cop haters posts here?
The cops have been tried and convicted right here at FR for racism and intentional murder by geniuses locked in their homes watching a few seconds of a video.
How do we know the cops are racist? Clearly the man on the ground was black and the cops are white. What more do you need?
Oh, and no one ever held face down with a knee to the neck would say they can't breathe unless it was true< /sarcasm >
Funny, I cant recall hearing that Floyds brother was even present at the scene.
And yet, so many FReepers are all on board with decriminalizing drugs. Its a head scratcher.
Greta is so yesterday. Not fresh enough for a fresh propaganda campaign.
The hypocrisy doesn't get any better or more clear than this.
While tens of thousands of protesters are packed in like sardines, sharing water bottles, sweating all over each other in the heat and on public transportation - the feds are concerned about social distancing in congress, the law-making halls of America.

I don’t care if the cop is racist. What I care about is the fact he assaulted a handcuffed and unconscious prisoner for nearly 3 minutes on video. After being told by another cop the citizen had no pulse.
We have enough basic facts here to make a judgement. Only the willfully blind don’t see them.
When will we have access to Derek Chauvins drug screen?
“after House Democrat’s plan”.........pretty well tells the story. Why otherwise would this man need to appear before a do-nothing Congress for something that happened in a local police jurisdiction? I would guess so it might distract Congress’ attention for awhile from other pressing matters that should have been resolved a long time ago.
I knew it was going to be the House.
Paul Ryan got what he wanted.
You are correct. Ryan got the biggest tax cut law in American history and he himself crafted it.
