One of the three former police officers charged with aiding and abetting the murder of George Floyd had a string of criminal offences and traffic violations before he became a cop.
Thomas Lane, 37, of St. Paul, was charged on Wednesday afternoon in relation to Floyd's death, which happened when he was on his fourth full-time shift as a police officer.
Before he joined the force, Business Insider revealed that Lane had racked up a slew of traffic violations and became an officer despite having a criminal record.

The left elevates criminals and then complain when they act like criminals.
I thought treating people like criminals just because they are criminals was bad?
“...Lane had racked up a slew of traffic violations and became an officer despite having a criminal record...”
Used to be PD’s sought honorably discharged vets to hire. Now, they are looking for guys with the most minimal criminal records. Who else would want to be a cop these days and swear to enforce the diktats of criminal democrat politicians?
If this is the guy I read about earlier, it was his 4th day on the job, and he could be heard on one of the recordings suggesting more than once that Mr. Floyd be rolled over. He was ignored by the more experienced cops present.<p.
Whatever his background, if that is correct, then he doesn’t deserve to be convicted of anything.
Lane’s a criminal amateur compared to Floyd !
Worth repeating.
Naw, cant be a rogue cop with prior record
Its Systemic racism
WETF that means
Minneapolis and Minnesota are so screwed up that the best advice is just do what we do to LA and SF: stay the hell out!
[In October 2001, when Lane was 18, he was charged with two counts of obstructing legal process, damaging property, unlawful assembly, and disorderly conduct. He was convicted of one count of obstructing legal process and one charge of damaging property.
Almost six years later, in March 2007, Lane faced misdemeanor charges of hosting a noisy party or gathering and disorderly conduct. He was found guilty of the noisy-gathering charge.]
What did Floyd do??
Hire a black just because he’s black. Qualifications and red flags don’t matter.
A horrific situation the two rookies found themselves in with the veteran cops. Hopefully, their body cams demonstrate their efforts to mitigate forceful restraint as the man died. If so, we can hope the justice system will have mercy on those men.
Maybe stuff like that is a prerequisite for being a cop there.
Lane, who is black, was one of two minorities who assisted Chauvin with his mistreatment of Floyd.
Criminal record? And he wasn’t black. Unforgivable.
Minneapolis = first black police chief
Havent seen him on TV to answer for the management of his department.
Anyone seen him?
The left elevates criminals and then complain when they act like criminals.
The left elevates criminals and then blames Trump when they act like criminals.
The entire local government in Minneapolis and Minnesota itself is rife with blaming leftists
There were no press conferences tagging household name status to the police chief, the mayor nor the governor all of who are responsible for these known criminals working as police officers.
This local government was responsible for toning this down immediately, taking blame, pointing out that chauvin, with other deaths on his watch was not motivated in this case by racism (if he was not) and perhaps motivated by personal vendetta against someone he worked with at a bar...(?)
Think of who is in charge in Minnesota from klobuchar to that awful anti American congresswoman
Imagine the outcry if the PD uses this as a standard to dismiss applicants.
Also note that he was the new rookie questioning the actions of veteran officer Derek Chauvin. He should not have been charged.
There is something seriously wrong with the story of Floyds arrest and death.
What I cant get over is that Chauvin and Floyd reportedly worked together in a bar.
That needs to be the focus of the investigation. I do not think this was a case of racially motivated brutality, but I do think there is more than just a possibility that Chauvin deliberately killed Floyd.
