Its been nearly half a century since a Democratic presidential candidate carried Texas. You have to go all the way back to Jimmy Carter in 1976.
But a new poll in the Lone Star State suggests that Texans are split right now between President Trump and Democrat challenger Joe Biden, with five months to go until the November general election.
According to a Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday, 44 percent of registered voters in Texas say theyd vote for the GOP incumbent if the election were held today, with 43 percent saying theyd support the former vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee. Seven percent say theyre unsure or dont know, and 3 percent indicate theyd back a different candidate.

Biden is poised for a complete rout in November.
I’ve studied it very closely and the math indicates he will easily win all 57 states.
In the popular vote, he should win a hundred million to zero.
Biden will indeed probably get 44%
I've been telling these mental midgets that the invasion will change America forever. I only wish I had been wrong.
ROTF! Suuuure they’re tied in Texas.
Of course not. Trump knows he has Texas locked tight. ;). He must have got a big laugh out of this poll.
fox news keeps putting out this fake news ..they want people bto believe this
It already has changed the country. It’s unrecognizable to me. I grew up on the border and I can remember when Spanish was not only unheard, it was controversial to speak it in public.
But now we have people like Arturo Acevedo, not from Mexico, but Cuba, who is (!) the Police Chief of Houston.
Here’s a video of the “assimilated” Arturo from a couple of days ago. View it if you can stomach it.
He’s assimilated alright. Assimilated into Aztlan culture, with a strong streak of victimhood sharing with The Bruthas...who his ancestors first enslaved.
And he gets to call himself a “Texan” now.
Relatives of mine fought in the war between 1846-1848 to make sure Texas stayed out of the hands of the inheritors of the Spanish main. I can’t imagine any of them agreeing in any way that this guy was who they had in mind when they did that.
Oh, shut the hell up and get lost. I supported Donald Trump because I got sick of living in a country that has been run into the ground by presidential presidents.
Say no more. They define being skewed.
It breaks my heart to read your post. Who didn’t wear a Davy Crockett hat as a kid, even on Flatbush Ave. The Dodgers were still in town then, and I’m lucky enough to have seen them play at Ebbits field. Neither of us are kids, that’s for sure. What they’ve done to our country is horrible, and why on earth people on our side don’t understand where we are heading is disheartening. I truly fear for my kids and g’kids and hope I can yet do something to change the direction we’re headed in. The reelection of Trump will be a road bump, but it isn’t going to stall the inevitable. We either fight this, or fade away quietly.
No
Since I don’t g to him for lessons on deportment, he can run his mouth as much as he likes. I like him all the more for it.

Lets see how they did in 2016.
I got a good LOL when I read the headline.!!!!!!!
No
Yeah, he should be Presidential like George W. Bush, huh?
NEVER fight back. Too beneath him. Only lowers you to the level of your fouled-mouth opponents, right?
And then you leave office with a 31 percent approval rating.
You’re such a smart guy! Are you Carl Rove?
I'm old enough to remember when California was one of the most solidly Republican states in the nation.
Quinnipiac?
They are historically the most inaccurate bunch of pollsters every election cycle. By far.
They would have had McLellan beating Lincoln by 40 points in the 1864 election.
