New polling shows that a majority of Americans, including nearly half of Democrats, support calling in the military to assist local police in handling the nationwide unrest that has accompanied peaceful demonstrations commemorating George Floyd, who died last week in Minneapolis police custody.
Morning Consult conducted the survey from May 31 to June 1 and found that 58 percent of voters support using the military to deal with protests and demonstrations across the country, alongside the police. Just 30 percent of respondents said they'd oppose such a measure.
Furthermore, 33 percent (one-third) of respondents said they "strongly" support sending in the military, while an additional 25 percent (one-quarter) said they "somewhat" support the move. Only 19 percent of voters "strongly" opposed deploying the military, while 11 percent "somewhat" opposed it. The survey's margin of error was plus or minus 2 percentage points.
Republicans were more likely to support the proposal, with 77 percent in favor of sending in military troops. Among Democrats, 48 percent said they'd support deploying troops to cities rocked by protests. And 52 percent of independents also backed such action.

Trump basically thinks like a normal American, so his instincts on the fundamental issues are always correct. I sensed this with his repeating the word “dominate” on Monday. He knows this is how most of us feel.
Key word is “assist”.
Where I am, in the blue part of Ohio, that is not the case. Many of those around me have lost what little mind they once had.

That puts Trump in a bad spot. The up side is that he knows most people agree with him. The down side is that if he DOES take action, people will be screaming “dictator”, “states’ rights”, “martial law”, etc.

I hope so. I’ve been kind of dismayed at how many people I thought had sense are joining in that stupid blackout Tuesday thing on social media. Basically supporting BLM and all the lies. I don’t even follow too many on social media, but people I saw as conservative and sensible. I guess the just want to show they “care”.
The proposition was more popular among older voters, whites and conservatives, with 75% of self-identified conservatives, 68% of voters over the age of 65 and 60% of white voters saying they’d either strongly support or somewhat support sending in the military.
But the poll showed a large chunk of voters usually associated with the Democratic Party also are open to deploying troops, with 43% of voters under 34, 40% of self-identified “liberals” and 37% of African-Americans saying they’d support sending in the military to help police.
The poll was conducted Sunday-Monday, as protests were marred by violence in many cities across the U.S.
I don't. It's only necessary to call in the military when there are riots! A large part of the problem is the news media not being honest when they call a riot a protest.

Should it be done? Probably not. However it just shows Americans are not as dumb as the media thinks they are.
