New York State’s top prosecutor is threatening to sue President Trump if he follows through on his threat to deploy the United States military to put down domestic protests that were sparked by the police-involved killing of George Floyd.
‘The President of the United States is not a dictator, and President Trump does not and will not dominate New York state,’ Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement on Monday.
‘In fact, the president does not have the right to unilaterally deploy US military across American states.'

It’s like a curse has descended on NYC — first COVID-19, then this chaos and disorder — almost from the moment it was announced that Donald Trump had changed his official residence from New York to Florida.
I made this point earlier in discussion with my old man. Generally speaking, these problems are not occurring in Red States. Some issues in Dallas, Tampa and St. Louis, but generally those states have been fine, as has most of the South. NY, CA, PA, Minneapolis, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, a different story altogether. It was just a matter of time before NY and Philly descended into chaos, George Floyd or not, they were going to riot in the summer due to the lockdown, this just got it going a little sooner.

Supremacy clause. We’re talking about citizens of the United States, not citizens of New York or citizens of Minnesota. Equal protection. Trump has the authority. Insurrection. Its federal law.
The U.S. government has no responsibility to rescue people who disarm themselves and elect incompetent morons to govern them.

I’m in NJ but work in NY. Have been working from home since March 12th. I have no desire to go back to the city when this is all over. DeBlasio and Cuomo have done this to themselves.
Good for the Attorney General, that is his right and maybe he thinks it is his responsibility. We have a legal system of checks and balances.
If he gets the injunction, then let the property damage of further riots be something that he and his political party have to own in the November elections. Injunction or not, he will be known to voters as the chief legal officer of the State that sided with looters and rioters.

I thought at one time that NO ONE was supposed to permanently live in the Federal City - the section that was the old ‘Diamond shape’ of DC that included parts of Virginia and Maryland.

We need good judges no matter what their race, ethnic background, religion, or politics are, and with the Democrats choices over the year, we didn’t get them.
