And so, for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic, North Carolina farmers have had to start euthanizing at least 1.5 million chickens, a state agriculture official told the News & Observer, calling the measure a "last resort."
Most meat plants in North Carolina and nationwide won't disclose just how may of their employees have contracted coronavirus, but the close-packed working conditions have turned the facilities into disease hotspots since the early days of the pandemic.

Stores are limiting purchases to two packages per type of meat here. Large families have to go to stores that have larger packages (Costco, Mexican grocery stores).
Shazaam! Bill Gates just happens to have a fake meat patent for that!

Do you ever wake up and feel like you’re in the Hunger Games (which the Democrats watched and thought was a great idea)?
Fake News. All will be made clear soon enough ... mho
Quantity isn’t a problem here yet, in fact it’s been improving. The local store limits quantity a bit. The selection and quality of cut is a bit thin though. Haven’t found a good sirloin since this started.
What is so sad about all of this is it is now impossible to determine what is fake news and what news we should actually listen to.
I know for one, I have stepped up my prepping. Regardless, I think we all need to be prepared for the worst since we simply never know if or when it will happen.
JoMa
Meat plants are mostly back on line. A couple million chickens more or less arent worth worrying about. This is just more pandemic porn.
I’m a prepper. I was already stocked on necessities.
Never hurts to obey the Scout Law
no hunger games sucks ass when compared to other dystopias.
i think of 1984, Brave New World, Brazil, We. They Live even comes to mind.
Total agreement
The problem is in the handling and cutting up. Whole chicken is .49 /lb in Oregon. Side of ribs went from 1.99/lb to .99.
Cut up stuff costs 3-4x as much right next to it. They are fleeting sales though and you need to get them and freeze them.
I seriously doubt if this is fake news. Farmers have been getting rid of their stock for quite a while.
Ill double down ... Fake News
We got 2 heifers to feed and we bought a 1320 Lb finished beef, OMG! it is scrumptios, nothing like store bought.
One of the Hispanic cleaners at our office tested positive today ... just sayin
Have it your way.
let’s all worry A LOT. I mean REALLY worry.
About Everything!!!
I have had no problems at all since this whole thing began and i’m in NYC
what happened to the shortage that was gonna start 2 weeks ago?
give me a break
couple million chickens is a rounding error. Nearly 200 million poultry are processed every week in the US.
