WASHINGTON — A photograph of President Trump and his top four-star generals and admirals, tweeted in October by Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper, was meant as a thank-you to the commander in chief. But it angered a lot of others, and not just those who erupted on Twitter.
“You would have thought it was 1950,” said Lt. Col. Walter J. Smiley Jr., who is African-American and fought in Iraq and Afghanistan before retiring last year after 25 years in the Army. Dana Pittard, a retired major general, also African-American, was equally frustrated. “It’s America’s military,” he said. “Why doesn’t this photo look like America?”

African Americans also appear invisible when it comes to reporting crime.
Actually, not much different than saying... "White-Americans Are Highly Visible at the top of the NFL, but Almost Invisible on the field."
I always thought positions at the top and on the field were awarded on the basis of SKILL and LEADERSHIP abilities.
I ran into that wall in the Army in 1957, so it hasn't changed at all. Then again in the Navy in 65 everything was about race. At least in the Army the kid they advanced was ok but the Navy was a different matter, you could have a career destroyed in a hurry.

I really don’t think your chart is the reason. There are plenty of very intelligent Blacks in the military. They are not looking at the military as a career but as a stepping stone. Combat arms is not their first choice. They are going to communication, logistics etc. These fields provide greater opportunity than being a cannon cocker etc.
My point was regarding your comment that blacks should be 10% of senior officers. While there are a lot of very smart blacks, like Clarence Thomas, Allen West, Thomas Sowell, etc,there aren’t enough to provide you with the numbers you want.
