A Twitter spat that began on Friday night escalated Saturday afternoon between President Donald Trump and his former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama.
It began with a tweet from Trump promoting Sessions opponent, former Auburn head football coach Tommy Tuberville. It led to a response from Sessions as having been damn fortunate for the recusal.
The back-and-forth resumed Saturday morning, with Sessions posting another tweet directed at Trump about the people of Alabama and their relationship.
.@realDonaldTrump: Mr. President, Alabama can and does trust me, as do conservatives across the country. Perhaps youve forgotten. They trusted me when I stepped out and put that trust on the line for you.

Trump responded with a series of tweets, once again questioning Sessions 2017 decision to recuse himself from investigations tied to the 2016 presidential election, which included allegations of Russian interference in the election, and the possibility of Russian collusion. He then suggested Sessions drop out.
Jeff, you had your chance & you blew it. Recused yourself ON DAY ONE (you never told me of a problem), and ran for the hills. You had no courage, & ruined many lives. The dirty cops, & others, got caught by better & stronger people than you. Hopefully this slime will pay a big https://t.co/AJPUBTPCnT

He’s OLD! Isn’t that reason enough? Will someone please tell Nancy and Joe for all it matters?+
He can recuse himself. He’s good at that.
It’s hard for me to imagine that Sessions would have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.
Major disappointment of a man. He should go quietly into the night.
Sessions is going through withdrawal like politicians do who have been out of the loop....he thinks running again will get him back in with the in crowd.
They trusted you to act true to your nature?
It’s amazing how many Rinos have a moment when the light of truth shines brightly on them. And they fold. It happened to Sessions, Romney, McCain, Bush, Bush, it flickers often on to Graham, S. Collins, McConnell and others I’m sure.
For many obvious and clear good reasons.....Jeff Sessions should withdraw from his run-off race in the upcoming Alabama Senator run-off primary election race.
Sessions destroyed himself and did not serve his President, the people of Alabama, the people of the USA Republic and allowed the criminal element of the Democrat Partyto run free and loose to do whatever criminal acts they chose to deliver to take down a sitting POTUS.
Jeff Sessions, sadly you are nothing but the same low life, scum & vermin as any Democrat is. End of story...Case closed!!!
“Major disappointment of a man.”
Seems he had a good run for many years, and was upstanding overall. I just wonder what “they” had on him to make him so willing to take a dive so quickly.
No Jeff. Most conservatives don't trust you.
Even Q doesn't trust you anymore.
LOL!
I trusted Sessions right up until the recusal.
Not sure I trust Tuberville, either.
Glad I don’t have to make that choice.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Trump should re-evaluate the reality of the situation
So THAT was where the President was headed with the “Jeff was a chicken” talk. It seemed quite arbitrary these last few days.
And IF Sessions were a man of honor he wouldnt be running ar all
Hes passed hes sell by date
If Sessions had no baggage and he was a well known state senator from legislature, I would still say no because of his age. The football coach isn’t spring chicken no more but he has one or two terms in U.S. Senate where he should be effective.
LOL!
Why do these people hang on to power so desperately? Sessions might be a good man and a decent politician but just retire already.
The last poll I say had Tuberville ahead by 55%-32% in the runoff which is remarkable because Tuberville had 33% and Sessions 32% in the original primary that narrowed it down to these two finalists. In other words, Sessions has the support of no more than 1/3rd of the GOP primary voters in Alabama ... and would lose to ANYONE who was running against him.
I didn’t vote for DJT so he could “act presidential”. I voted for him to stir the pot, clean house and take names.
