Attorney General Bill Barr said Monday he does not expect U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review into the origins of the Russia probe will lead to a “criminal investigation” of either former President Barack Obama or former Vice President Joe Biden -- while noting that their concern of “potential criminality” in the conduct of that probe is “focused on others.”
Barr did say, however, that “not every abuse of power, no matter how outrageous, is necessarily a federal crime.”
“As for President Obama and Vice President Biden, whatever their level of involvement based on what I know, I don’t expect Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man,” Barr said. “Our concern of potential criminality is focused on others.”
This comes after both Obama and Biden -- the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee -- have faced heightened criticism from Republicans for any potential role in the early stages of the probe. Trump last week even called for Obama to be summoned to testify before Congress.
The politically explosive environment -- bringing the country into uncharted territory, with a former president accused by critics of involvement in a political probe related to his eventual successor, and the sitting president now essentially calling for retribution against his predecessor -- has built ever since the DOJ moved to dismiss its case against Michael Flynn.

Barr has been on the job for 15 months without even a single indictment despite a sea of evidence already in the public domain (courtesy of Judicial Watch and numerous other parties). There is no reason to wait to complete some massive report; some of the miscreants involved in the plot could already have been brought to justice by now.
Consider the enormous amount of resources at Barr’s disposal. Anyone with a $28 billion budget should have been able to produce something by now.

We can wave the pitchforks all we want and trust me - the handle is worn to a shiny patina on mine.
His words were pretty strong today. I cannot influence what happens nor can you -
He just said in blunt terms that the President was the victim of a major miscarriage of justice. He said the Russian collusion delusion was a lie. He said the Mueller probe was bunk.
I will take it.
What is the alternative - for the AG of the U.S. to stand at the podium and say he is going to indict the prior President and Vice President? I suppose many of us would cheer, but how would that fix things for the other half of the country?
At this point, let us find out the truth. History can judge Obama and Biden. I firmly believe many of the main actors deserve to be charged and jailed, but we will see what happens. He did not close the door on that either.
Barr has incrementally condemned what happened in his public statements. Today was a straight-up condemnation of what happened. He used the word “abhorrent” to describe the actions of his predecessors and our government against this President.
I have listened to his statements. It is pretty clear after today that the Durham probe has the goods to prove this or he would not have said it.
It is much better than nothing. His statement was smart - there is no way the left can spin it against him with a straight face. History will be the judge of Obama and Biden.

The longer we have to wait, the closer we get to that point.

I want the truth to be revealed. Barr just put it in black and white today and everyone is focused on “he is not going to indict Obama or Biden?”
The AG, who is very careful with his words, just told the world that this was all political partisan BS.
He has hinted at it previously. He flatly said it today.
