Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), one of the Republican Party’s most vocal critics of President Donald Trump, called the administration’s removal of multiple inspector generals a “threat to accountable democracy” and a “fissure in the constitutional balance of power.”
“The firings of multiple Inspectors General is unprecedented; doing so without good cause chills the independence essential to their purpose. It is a threat to accountable democracy and a fissure in the constitutional balance of power,” Romney wrote on Twitter Saturday.

There is no greater threat to a democratic form of government than an army of unelected bureaucrats “overseeing” the elected leadership.

I searched for examples of Romney screeds against obama when he fired multiple IG’s during his time in office. Curiously, I could find none at all.

If Trump didn’t fire people Mittens would claim that was “a threat to democracy”. That phrase is a democrat talking point right now. Mittens obviously gets the DNC talking point emails.

We sure dodged a massive bullet when this fool lost the election.
He was governor of Massachusetts, one of the most liberal states in the Union - they’d have gotten something as bad as RomneyCare done without him. He tried to run for president once and failed miserably. He routinely betrays conservatives, so they know better than to depend on him for anything. He’s no Reagan or Trump - he simply floats through life as a mainstream liberal and he never matters much. A completely inconsequential figure kept alive by the media.
Some senior Republicans need to have a talk with the inner circle of the Mormon church, to let them know that the way Romney has been going will reflect on their church in a negative way. How they wish to address this is up to them, but ignoring the problem is not an option.
