So how do you ban all trade with China? Wouldn’t that take legislation to do that? And how would you get that through Congress much less enforce it?

My opinion is it’s a mistake. We shouldn’t give them a dime.
I’m used to the “walk softly and carry a big stick” school of diplomacy, but he’s a businessman used to negotiations that involve getting the job done, and it’s clear that the CCP is not the walk softly type anyway. Instead, the CCP is a narcissist trying to gaslight the whole world. The rules of polite society do not apply.

What is Trump supposed to do? The fiend, Xi, unleashed a plague, either on purpose or accidentally, but purposefully, and that is not open to debate, spread it around the world.
I know of a young lady in SoCal that was a surrogate to a Chinese couple. Amazing.
One big area they have an advantage is the crucial rare earth metals, but we do have them here. We just don’t have as much of them, and our environmentalists have put every roadblock in places to prevent mining for them.
Perhaps this will be a catalyst to get past that somehow.
