Boris Johnson is planning a war on obesity after deciding his own touch-and-go battle with coronavirus was exacerbated by him being overweight.
The PM is ready to ditch long-standing opposition to 'nanny state' policies and launch a crackdown on the nation's bulging waistlines after coronavirus is defeated.
He's told senior advisers that the experience - which he famously said 'could have gone either way' - has left him determined to lead a public health drive.
Being obese doubles the risk of needing hospital treatment for coronavirus, research shows.
And with one in three British adults now clinically obese, the UK has one of the highest rates in the world.

How about a war on bad british teeth and bad hair?
It isn’t just being “overweight”. It’s being lazy, atropied, 280 pounds of chewed bubblegum from sitting around all day getting no physical exercise, and eating rich high calorie foods.
Better to get into a habit of eating reasonably (not like a baby with no self control) and exercising on a regular habit.
Maybe Boris wants to imprison fat people until they are skinny?

You really realize how much we eat and drink for pleasure, and how little we actually need.
I figure once I get my blood sugar down, I can work on the calories and the weight....

I drink plenty of water when I fast because, rightly or wrongly, I think my system is flushing out the wastes of whatever it is breaking down and eating.
I always feel wonderful the next morning...and light on my feet.;-)
Best of luck with your keto and fasting.
Thank you! You too!
Actually, from what I've heard (and experienced) when you first start out, go ahead and pig out on protein. After a few days, your appetite should start to recede a little naturally.
It’s still a standing slur among UK Leftards to call Americans fat-now that they’ve seemingly caught up, I just have to laugh.
I can’t wait to hear what Nigel Farage on LBC has to say about this.
If I have to go on a diet, EVERYBODY has to go on a diet.
