Hawaii could face civil unrest, rioting if coronavirus reopening doesn't happen quicker, top official says

Hawaii’s top emergency response official said Monday he fears there will be civil unrest and rioting if the state doesn’t speed up its process of reopening the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“If we let the economy go the way it’s going, there will be, I feel, significant unrest that could lead to civil disobedience. In worst case, civil disturbance and rioting,” Maj. Gen. Kenneth Hara, the state director of emergency management, told lawmakers Monday.

Hara, who heads the state's coronavirus response team, argued before the state House Select Committee on COVID-19 in Honolulu Monday that, despite pushback from the department of health, Hawaii must accept the risk of an increase in new infections because the longer they wait, the harder it will be for the economy to recover, KHON2 reported.

It’s good to start thinking about the Fallout from these lockdown orders. It’s hard on people to be in a situation where you just have to stay home, and you can’t go anywhere, you can’t do anything.

From the beginning we seem not to have done any sort of cost-benefit analysis of having lockdowns in the first place.

Rioting in paradise?

Might be a good thing if we can get inside the Department of Health and find the scribblings that Abercrombie says he saw regarding Obama.

not that I am advocating for it but I am surprised there hasn’t been some serious incidents thus far.

Today I saw an article that reported that there’s too much drinking and pot-smoking going on because people being locked up in their homes and left without work are...surprisingly...”anxious.” His solution?

Close the liquor stores and pot shops. Of course, then he suggested that people should get prescription drugs to deal with the anxiety. Huh?

The solution should be, of course, end the lock down and reopen all the other stores and let everybody open their own front doors and go back to work.

And the worst part for government: many of the police officers will NOT enforce the order, either.

This is much like Hawaii would be under the Green New Deal. The tourism industry would be non existent without airlines flying people there and getting supplies from the mainland via windjammers would not be too efficient.

I will look on the bright side here.

Maybe the rioters will break into Hawaii’s records department, then examine Obama’s birth certificate to see if it is really genuine. Here’s a little help for the rioters:

there are way more than 4 flaws with Obama’s birth certificate

I am a computer software engineer- I’ve done imaging software for a living- I would be qualified to testify in court as an expert witness.

here are YouTube videos pointing to the proofs that the image was photo-shopped- they are 100% correct.

The lying liar who came out and said it was all due to ‘OCR’ was a lying GD liar and he knew he was lying because I watched his dummy ‘explanation’ where the lying liar showed irrelevant crap.

Focusing on the lockdown ignores the elephant in the room.

Without tourism Hawaii is burnt toast:

So what’s the point?

Hawaii is an island thousands of miles from any continent. Not much in the way of natural resources. It absolutely depends on tourism which is exactly the industry that is being hit hardest. Easter Island use to have forests but the natives cut every tree down and society there pretty much collapsed.

I read that in general....tourism income for the Island is around 21 to 23 percent. If you yank out flights in general....to those who own condos and stay there six to eight weeks out of the year...it probably adds another 3 to 5 percent on top of that amount.

I’m guessing if you tasked the hotel chains and local tourist ‘handlers’....they are in dire straits, and some already have bankruptcy lawyers working on drafts. If you shut down 15 to 20 percent of the island revenue ‘machines’....ask the state where income tax and sales tax revenue will come from.

One thing Dog the Bounty Hunter showed me, like many places, Hawaii has a huge, ugly underbelly.

Not just Hawaii ... every blue state is in line for this to happen. Everything is in place, all the fuel. Rabid unemployment (people sitting on street corners instead of at their jobs), shortage of food and rising food prices, the government being overbearing. All it will take is a spark and all hell is going to break loose. I predict this will happen when it gets warm, toward summer.
