Protestors in Michigan planning to rally at the state Capitol on Thursday are being warned that if they bring firearms to the event they will be arrested.
The warnings come after several members of the groups planning on attending the rally called for the assassination of Governor Gretchen Whitmer which saw one man writing: Can we please just take up a collection for an assassin to put that woman from Michigan down.
On Monday, Whitmer said she respected peoples rights to protest but was becoming increasingly concerned about the violent nature of the comments being made and the extreme rhetoric already connected to Thursdays rally.
She has requested that if people decide to protest that they wear masks and practice social distancing.
On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey said that despite a longstanding rule that Michiganders with permits can bring weapons into the Capitol, anyone brandishing them in such a way as to intimidate or threaten anyone else should be properly handcuffed, properly taken in and fingerprinted.
Law enforcement needs to take this upon their own hands, Shirkey said. When those brandishing activities occur, they need to be addressed and Im calling on the attorney general and the governor to do so with the cooperation of the Michigan State Police.
There have also been suggestions that Michigan State Police will back up the governors orders on social distancing and could hand out legal citations to those breaking guidelines.

The Tree of Liberty doesn’t like being thirsty....
First they want to enforce house arrest for all the people in the state who are not sick. Now they want to arrest all the armed people in the state who did not threaten state officials. Whatever will they do next?
Why bring a gun to this rally? What is the purpose?
Well, technically, BRANDISHING is, holding and displaying in a threatening manner. IE, displaying a weapon in a manner so as to imply, back off or you’re in trouble. Carrying is, self-explanatory.
Sir, that is correct!
What an incredibly screwed - up state? Are all of the “leaders “ there fascist buffoons ? Just askin ‘ for a friend .
Shirky? As in shirk your responsibility? Oh yes he’s done that.
But more than that...the Michigan governor really made an incredibly stupid decision in preventing people from buying home and gardening supplies.
It’s springtime, woman, and people want, no, they need to be outside, in the fresh air and sunshine, planting their gardens.
These gardens are important. Fresh fruit
important for low-income people, who can grow their own fresh vegetables and fruits in community gardens; for seniors who can do the same. They can garden, with assistance, perhaps.
But people need fresh fruit and vegetables, people of all incomes.
You’re an idiot Governor Whitmer.
*hope I’m posting on the right thread, about Michigan?*
Hey, Wit-less:
This is my rifle.
This is my gun.
This one’s for fightin’
This one’s for fun.
Dear governess,
Extreme tyranny generates extreme rhetoric.
“Fresh fruit” should read: fresh fruit and vegetables.
Ok, thanks. Hope they dont brandish.
They are exercising their rights. Two at the same time. These days carrying a weapon is a form of free expression- free speech. It also reminds the state that there are a hell of a lot of weapons in the hands of free citizens and they want to stay that way. Plus, just the sight of a black weapon makes pencil necked liberals piss their pants in fear. They’re all racists, you know.
In the case of our Tyrannical Trannie Secretary of "Health" its because she/he/it can't figure our which restroom to use.
Lotta liberals cant tell about brandishments. Ot blandishments either.
No kidding. Simply openly carrying is not brandishing.
Am I the only one who notices that Gov Whitmer’s name can be rendered as “Whitler”, reflecting her fascistic tendencies?
I wish they wouldn’t bring guns....its a bad optic....
Give a Democrat/leftist a dime and they automatically call in a “threat” to their own. /sarc
