President Donald Trump on Tuesday again pushed the Federal Reserve to adopt negative interest rates, even as several members of the US central bank have said they do not see a need for rates - now near zero - to move into negative territory.

"As long as other countries are receiving the benefits of Negative Rates, the USA should also accept the 'GIFT'. Big numbers!" he tweeted.

Oh...I think demand is there.

Business just can’t touch it because of the lockdowns and slow opens, and new regulations.

I am split on the subject of 5G. I am reading a book written by General Robert Spaulding (Ret.) who was the cyberwarfare specialist to the Joint Chiefs who got fired because he publicly stated his view that the government should be in charge of the implementation.

He made some valid points, especially on the security aspects of it coupled with the pervasiveness that is surely going to come.

And I definitely don’t want Communist China to be in a position of being the chief supplier, architect, and implementer of the system.

But I have come to the conclusion that men cannot be given that kind of surveillance power over other men, no matter how well intentioned. This Obama spying crap brings that fully home.

I was explaining to others (in the context of FISA) that laws limiting its application are only valid in the context of a moral population. When they are immoral, they simply sidestep and ignore the law for their own purposes.

Like gun control. Moral, law abiding citizens will generally observe them if it comes to that, but criminals surely won’t.

They will just step around them.

So, if I keep my  money  currency in the bank there will be less of it at the end of every month than there was at the beginning? Why would anyone do that?

Simple answer. Because it's the law. Cash will have to be outlawed in order to get their negative rates. And with this virus, think how much easier it will be to make that sale to the pubic - no more dirty cash floating around out there spreading germs.

Hell, count me in on this plan. Give me a smart card with $1200 added to it every month and serfdom here I come!!

But we are still fortunate we got enough to pay off our house we took over from my deceased mother.

To help his sons running Trump corporation with multi-million dollars spent on interest on loans for construction business.

Can’t blame a dad trying to help his kids. Like Lt Gen Flynn who fell on the sword because FBI threatened to go after his son.

Hm. Don’t think he would do it for that reason, wouldn’t be worth it to even have a scent of it.

Every good dad will do ANYTHING to help his kids.

I know my dad emptied out his saving account to send me to college.

Of course...but not every dad is the President of the United States with millions of hateful predatory eyes watching his every move, eager to impale him if he so much as drops a gum wrapper!

Buffet, the same guy whose portfolio lost a big fortune in March?

——————-

He sold all of his airlines stock at the start of this nonsense. Took a $50 Billion hit, nothing to sneeze at, but a rounding error in his world.

He’s happy he did it.

His overall portfolio (besides the airlines) took a big hit. He was blind sided by the covid-19 fiasco.

Do you want to ride this out with your portfolio or Buffett’s?

Given the choice between the second richest man in the world and a pleasant but random keyboard warrior, I chose Buffett.

Your mileage may vary.

My portfolio is way ahead of Buffet’s this year (2020).

I was 40% cash, 60% bonds.
The bonds did not drop much.
I ploughed the cash into stocks in March & April.
