Simple. The deep state and Democrats despise Trump and desire communism. Trump performed worst in the District of Columbia among all counties in the United States of America in 2016, and most of those voters are basically deep-state bureaucrats, many high-powered. They’ve been trying to remove Trump before the conclusion of his first term, but impeachment failed to remove Trump and brought him his highest approval ratings and best probability of reelection. Worse, triumphant Trump was perilously close to exposing their highly illegal schemes, and the American economy kept posting numbers that drove even unexpectedly employed black Democrats ever closer to the Republican fold.

If victorious at the next election, Trump might erode the influence of these high-power deep-state bureaucrats (or preferably confine it to certain portions of some federal prison cells). He might even manage to stop the killing of elderly Americans or even conspire to save the lives of millions of innocent babies through appointments to the Supreme Court. And he’d have a prosperous capitalist economy, a functional and effective antidote to the ever-intensifying Marxism that infects the university system.

So the deep state conspired with the Chinese Communist party on this scheme to suppress the Constitution, collapse the economy, close the churches, kill hundreds of thousands of mostly elderly Americans, and of course convince Americans to dump Trump. It probably will work not quite so well at dumping Trump in the end, but we might work for decades or generations to reverse even partially the astounding collateral damage of this scheme. If it works, and Trump loses reelection, then welcome to a Communist country, and I know not where one legally again might get even a small taste of freedom on this earth.

I believe we reacted differently because the intelligence agencies led Trump to believe this might be a bioweapon. So he had no choice but to act accordingly. Whether the spooks were setting him up, or got fooled by Chicom disinformation, or just screwed up, I don’t know.

It’s not nothing.
It’s not the flu.
Yes, turns out most have no symptoms, but those who do suffer hard, and those who die suffer catastrophic pulmonary failure (he11 of a way to go).

When this started, was reasonable to fear we faced a major disease. Isolation & masks (voluntary or compelled) contributed to cutting transmission.

Odd how many don’t grasp that a properly mitigated serious threat results in few/no casualties.

It was a way for the leftists to implement their totalitarian rules that they were otherwise hindered from doing.

Exactly.

Right now the local FOX affiliate has the screaming headline on their web site that here in North Carolina the number of infected has passed 14,000.

It is about the only news they update constantly all day.

But when you click the link and read the details, only 515 people are hospitalized in the entire state.

That is only 200 or so more since they started this running headline when the total infected was about 1,200.

If the number sent to the hospital had kept pace with the number infected, there probably would be 3,000 in the hospital.

Now that tells me something. Either the test numbers are inflated, and we do know that is true although we don’t know by what factor, and/or a lot of people test positive but are not sick.

In either cases it is pure BS propaganda.

It is unquestionably the equivalent of screaming “fire” in a crowded theater and that has been ruled a prosecuteable offense many years ago.

Totally irresponsible. Or is it really?

Not if y ou have an agenda or are working for someone who has an agenda.

For the 1918 Spanish Influenza many cities/counties acted about the same as today (mandatory masks, business shut downs, etc.)...Indiana, St. Louis, San Francisco, etc.:

Even some “push-back” as we see today:

I agree, President Trump got sandbagged by the media Dems and Rinos.

I think he’s navigating around them now. Dem states, no jobs? Wait why are the red states open and prosperous?

I know a lot of people want government cheese to sit home, but more want haircuts and a restaraunt dinner.

I think it will be a study in contrasts.

Exactly.

Now we know what we need to do going forward.

Protect the most vulnerable. Practice reasonable zero or low cost things like social distancing, face masks when in indoor public places, enhanced hand hygiene, etc.

I went on a 6 mile vigorous hike today. There were probably three or four times the normal number of hikers out on that trail today.

The millennials seemed to be the most frightened of all. Here we are out in brilliant sunshine, temp in the mid 70s, lots of fresh air, pleasant breeze and I’m passing one or a few people every 300 yards. They seem to be hunkered down and petrified, wearing masks in the great outdoors.

Many of them stop and move yards off the trail to let me go by. One young Chinese-American mom was hiking with her 3 or 4 year old son and she told him to “face the imaginary wall” away from the trail as I passed by. Probably 10% of the people I passed did that.

I was maskless which probably scared them out of their wits. I had an allergy sneeze once, but nobody was around. If that had happened near somebody, they would have jumped out of their skin!

The young folks in their 20s to 40s seem most afraid, but they have the smallest chance of getting hit badly.

The social isolation is ruining peoples’ outlooks — Maybe 10% of the people smile and say “Hi” now. Most cast their gazes down as if looking at a stranger will infect them.

The whole thing is surreal and totally bizarre. People have gone completely nuts. It’s going to take a long time for all these neuroses to pass.

Trump made an error in listening to Fauci and Birx, but he had little choice. When the “experts” hired to advise you tell you 2 million Americans a likely to die unless dire actions are taken, what do you do?

Once Trump (and everyone else) could how the curves were going, the game was up.

The ‘experts” didn’t go out into the field and get good parameter values for their models in a timely fashion.

They counted [colluded with?] on the WHO and China who they had been funding for decades.

Indeed.

I get a kick out of the magical thinking about masks. If you’re out of doors in the sunshine, you’re simply not going to get sprayed with a nasty virus dose of mucus. Any droplets one exhales will either fall to the ground and get zapped by the sun, or be wafted away on the breeze and be zapped by the sun.

Inside the grocery store, ok, fine, i’m masked up, it makes sense to me to do that.

Or driving around in alone in your car with the windows rolled up. What’s up with that?
