Cuomo: 66 Percent of New Hospitalizations Are From People Staying Home
cnbc.com ^ | MAY 06, 2020

Most new Covid-19 hospitalizations in New York state are from people who were staying home and not venturing much outside, a “shocking” finding, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday.

The preliminary data was from 100 New York hospitals involving about 1,000 patients, Cuomo said at his daily briefing.

It shows that 66% of new admissions were from people who had largely been sheltering at home. The next highest source of admissions was from nursing homes, 18%.

“If you notice, 18% of the people came from nursing homes, less than 1% came from jail or prison, 2% came from the homeless population, 2% from other congregate facilities, but 66% of the people were at home, which is shocking to us,” Cuomo said.

“This is a surprise: Overwhelmingly, the people were at home,” he added. “We thought maybe they were taking public transportation, and we’ve taken special precautions on public transportation, but actually no, because these people were literally at home.”

Cuomo said nearly 84% of the hospitalized cases were people who were not commuting to work through car services, personal cars, public transit or walking. He said a majority of those people were either retired or unemployed.

They told us repeatedly that we “had to follow the data.”

Yet, they do not follow the data?

What I wrote is true. Are there exceptions? Certainly. But the statistics are in and we can clearly see groups with mortality rates comparable to influenza.

The insurance industry as a whole are the best at assessing risks. If they used the same modeling that we have used for this virus what would their business look like?

Would you be able to afford life insurance if you were grouped with people in their 70’s and older? What about car insurance if you were grouped with people in their late teens or early 20’s?

They assess your risk based on the statistics of your age group, sex, region, overall health, habits (smoking), etc etc. This is a far more accurate model than just insuring a man or woman without considering all these other factors.

If the ones who spout the Urban Legend had some skin in the game, then they might be worth listening to - say, they marched down to the nearest institution with a surge of covid infections and spent time hanging around the afflicted.
For example, they could jump into their car, loading up all their healthy, fit family members - wife, children, bros, sisters - and head on down to volunteer at a nursing home or hospital in the midst of cv19 breakout. Maybe a vet’s hospital. They could put their claim to test PDQ.
But nope, all they won’t do it, they are afraid - they know they’re just parroting pure BS they picked up from God only knows where. They know that even healthy medical workers - doctors, nurses, other personnel have become deathly ill (and some die) even with PPE in place.

I thought it was legislation by Congress that Clinton signed. BTW, you forgot no down payment. Are you sure about no jobs and no income? I do remember that credit was not a factor.

I was aghast that lenders were actually doing it. I told many that such policy was going to end in massive foreclosures and the lenders would be on the hook for those properties. I didn't foresee the bundling of those mortgages and the subsequent financial collapse. I read recently, the House is thinking of doing it again, in the name of racial equality.

There is no longer any justification to keep the majority of the country shut down, but there is a justification to keep the elderly and vulnerable sheltered away from the rest of us until we learn more.

Correct. The needs of the 95% of the rest of the world outweigh the risks to the 5%. If you're vulnerable, or a straight up Karen, self quarantine and make arrangements to have your food delivered and have it put in a big box that you can poke a hole into and lysol the crap out of.

A million deaths worldwide from wuhan flu is far more preferable than 130 million starved as a result of lockdown.

For liberal sites, both sources are surprisingly critical of Cuomo and pretty much blame him for the mortgage meltdown that led to the great recession.

You would think there are only so many possibilities:

However they are getting exposed, needs to be figured out.

Lock downs inside, might lower vitamin D levels, but they still have to be exposed somehow. Lock downs inside alone doesn't explain it.

Sounds a lot like my routine.. The mail and packages sit in the garage for a few days.

Maybe they are getting it from the packages and mail that is delivered to their homes. I pick up my mail with tongs and put it aside for 4 or 5 days before opening it. And when I do open, I clean my hands with 91% alcohol immediately.

They let it spread in the nursing homes to cause panic and scare the population. New Hampshire where I live has 80% of its deaths in nursing homes. They don’t send them to hospitals to get treatment and they let them die and spread to others in the nursing facility. We should have never have closed down this is a lesson in stupidity for sure.

My father moved us from Baldwin Long Island up to New Hampshire back in 1982 . I’ll always be thankful but it’s too bad New England has become a rino and libtard haven.

I blame feminism, Suburban women have turned on the GOP and conservatism.

I do pretty much the same, even though the odds of contracting anything from regular mail are extremely low (actually, never heard of it happening).

Packages are another thing, especially if people are getting a lot crap from some China hellhole. I’d put that stuff in the garage for a month. I don’t order anything from China itself.
